GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna will play a series of solo shows this December. The trek will kick off on December 3 in Verona, New York and will conclude on December 14 in Boston, Massachusetts. Public on-sales for all the dates start this Friday, October 24. Fans will have the opportunity to buy an additional limited-edition VIP package upgrade through Erna's official web site. The package will include early entry, access to a meet-and-greet with Erna, an exclusive lithograph signed by Erna and a VIP laminate, all for $99 (not including the actual concert ticket). Erna said in a recent interview with HardDrive Radio that he intends to continue with his solo career when not recording or touring with his main band. Asked if he plans to make a follow-up to his 2010 solo debut, "Avalon", Erna replied, "I'm always working on material. I sit home, when I'm home, and the only thing I keep in my house is a drum set and acoustic guitar. I never really play electric at home. And because of that, whenever I'm noodling around, a lot of good ideas come up that are not always necessarily good for GODSMACK. So I tuck those away. So, for sure, I'll do another solo album at some point." Erna told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that he enjoys having two distinct sides to his musical output. "You know, GODSMACK, we've done some acoustic things here and there, but we really don't belong in that world so much. I mean, we're really more of a big, hard rock, powerhouse band and that's where we should be. But for me, I really love that acoustic side. I love the piano, I love that — just acoustic instruments. And so, I'm so happy that I have carved out that path now because I need to explore that kind of music." Erna also told HardDrive that his solo music can extend his career once his heavy rock days with GODSMACK are over, explaining, "With the solo stuff, I don't ever wanna have that kind of limitations, because I think it's the place I'd like to go one day, when this is all said and done, if I still wanna play music, I can sit up on stage with a piano and an acoustic and do one of those 'storytellers' kind of evenings…" "Avalon" featured a very different style than what Erna does with GODSMACK, incorporating world music, female vocals, keyboards, cello, hand percussion and other diverse sounds. GODSMACK's sixth studio album, "1000hp" (One Thousand Horsepower), was released on August 5.
