On August 5, GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna was interviewed on the "The BJ Shea Morning Experience" show on the Seattle radio station KISW 99.9 FM. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.GODSMACK's sixth studio album, "1000hp" (One Thousand Horsepower), sold approximately 58,000 copies in its first week of release to land at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The disc, which arrived on August 5, follows up 2011's "The Oracle", which topped the chart with sales of 117,000 copies in its debut week. The title track from "1000hp" is currently topping the rock radio chart and the band has just released an official video for the song. Sully Erna told The Pulse Of Radio that even though it was the last song written for the record, he knew it had to be the first single. "To me, once 'Horsepower' came out, I'm like, you know, look, this is a no-brainer," he said. "I mean, it's just obvious. Not only is it a fast, fun, punk kind of song, but it's about the history of the band. I mean, why wouldn't we launch that? Not only did we launch it first, but we felt like it kind of gave us a theme, going back to the roots, the beginning." Erna described the sound of the "1000hp" album to The Pulse Of Radio as "a little bit more raw, a little bit more open. The writing was a little freer. The production is really kind of raw and in your face, and the songs, man — I'm really, really excited about these songs. And I have to tell you honestly, I wasn't that excited about writing this record at first."GODSMACK is taking part in the 2014 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, which kicked off on August 15 in Clarkston, Michigan and will run through September 21.
