Going to watch Megadeth!

Actually, both groups need to shut up and just play. Megadeth needs to play their their fifth "return to roots" album. And Dissection needs to play their laughable post-prison songs (that I heard).

Dissection probably saw this as a metal event. Unfortunately, Mustaine sees this differently, as a way to spread personal beliefs or something. Besides, a true Christian would not have done what he did. Dave's a poser. What, is he gonna get up on stage and preach Christianity to a Jewish crowd? He's probably scared that Dissection would have upstaged him.

At the end of the day, it's all just metal. Shut the fuck up, Dave.

People just love to persecute Mustaine. Most of his reactions today seem to stem from retaliation than to just incite things. I've read more than enough of his posts on the Megadeth forum and he really seems to be a nice guy in recent years and tries to do what's best for himself and those he's surrounded by. His statement on the matter from a week or so ago:

Dave Mustaine said:
"It has come to my attention that there was a show in Greece where an allegedly 'full-on' Satanic band [ROTTING CHRIST] was going to be playing, as well as one in Israel too [referring to DISSECTION — Ed.]. No one knows for sure what their intent or content is, so I am not going to say they are.

"Yes, I said that I was not really interested in playing with Satanic [bands], and that is because I changed my outlook on life and my spritual beliefs over three years ago. I became a Christian, yes, and I have made even more mistakes now that I have, because there are things I do that I know I should not do, and things I do not do that I know I should.

"Plus I have helpful people like the guy in this thread who is quick to point out my failings, and volunteering as my self-appointed judge to remind me of everything that I am doing wrong.

"Yes, I did say I would prefer not to play on concerts with Satanic bands. That doesn't mean I won't, it doesn't mean I would not talk with the bands either, (sometimes it is just for fun anyway with these bands). But to make a life-altering change and then not have some kind of affect would not have been a change at all, would it? It's not much different from staying away from booze if you have made a decision to be sober.

"The concerts that I headline or I put together is usually my choice who I want to play with; festivals are different. If I don't feel it is right for me to do something, then like I said in this post here I would just respectfully decline. I would not ask that anyone be taken off if they were already confirmed.

"I have to draw the line and stand for my beliefs or they aren't beliefs at all, are they? I don't expect anyone to fully understand this, but I know many of you do, and I thank you for your support.

"To the Droogie that is set on insulting me about my beliefs, I understand. It is easy for a person with no beliefs to mock someone who does. I don't know if you do (I hope so), but it appears not. Because if you did, you would say, 'Well, those are Dave's beliefs, they are not like mine, but if mine are to be respected, than so should his.'

"I doubt you will think things through like this before you come on here and attack me for my beliefs again, but here's to hoping. And ya might want to check the guidelines of this site too; we are pretty friendly here, but personal attacks don't sit well here.

"And if not, I imagine someone will prolly buy your ticket and I will dedicate a song to your abscence at the concert

"The moral to the story is this . . . I don't like certain bands and that will never change that in me."

I think that is absolutely fair. He's got his beliefs and he's sticking by them from a personal perspective. It doesn't sound like Dave is trying to spread personal beliefs - aren't Megadeth there to play Megadeth songs? I don't think I've ever seen Megadeth preach anything religously ever.

I don't get it. Dissection play anti-christian songs and they want to be a support act to Megadeth. Megadeth do NOT play pro-christian songs and neither is he trying push his beliefs.

This just sounds like sour grapes.

I would agree with the sour grapes comment. More than likely the promoters cancelled Dissection instead Dave having any say and then have Megadeth pull out on them. Megadeth obviously will be the bigger draw and i doubt promoters would want to lose out on that. *shrug*

Are Dissection even allowed in Israel I wonder? I know some countries blacklist you if you have a criminal record -- I wonder if they didn't want to risk having them turned away at immigration. And yeah, with Dissection off the roster, it's not like you'll suddenly have a shortage of people waiting in line, but it seems like they're desperate to get the France gig still.

This is really funny. This forum bashes Christianity on a daily basis. Yet when one of your heroes uses it as a weapon to get another band kicked off a roster (after saying "I would not ask that anyone be taken off if they were already confirmed."), you don't care.

In all fairness the Local Black Metal Union Chapter 666 haven't posted in this thread. :loco:

"I unfortunately have to inform you about the fact that DISSECTION have been cancelled from the Metalist Festival in Israel (a gig which was 100 percent confirmed)"

OK maybe I'm missing something. Where did it say that Dave Mustaine requested that Dissection be removed from the roster?

I'm not defending him, or his cancerous beliefs, I'm just only seeing half the story here.

It doesn't, but it would be weird for the promoter to go ahead and shoot itself in the leg by canceling one of the headliners for no reason if Mustaine did not request so.

Guess you've only got Jon's word to go on...

I don't see what the issue with a Satanick band supporting Megadeth (you can't call them a christian band, they're not Stryper...) is. Seems like Dissection have more conviction in their beliefs than Mustaine does, they're the ones willing to let theirs stand against the opposition.
