good drum machines

I use FL Studio with Drumkit from Hell samples.

Once you get the hang of it, it's both flexible and powerful. I found no limitations using it.

I bought my copy of FL Studio, but I'm sure you could.......find it..... :) somewhere on the internet for free.

Seems to me drums are the hardest part of recording/emulating. I'm running cubase, and i can write midi files for drums. They sound fine played through my soundcard, but i dont have a decent intrument patch for drums so it's not that great for producing a final recorded song.

Plan B... buy a drum kit :)

Ever try the Natural Studio Kit? Real samples. There's a completely free version and with some EQ tweaking, you can make it sound amazing.

drumkit from hell are 8 dvds or something like that :) it's the best thing out there, but you need a good computer and lots of hd space to run it

I found 1 CD of it on DC++ a couple years ago.

The Drumkit from Hell samples are nothing more than a bunch of audio files of drums being whacked, so you don't need any special computer!:loco: You just need a program to sequence these samples!

that's a really old version of dfh... just check their site to see how it works now, it's quite different :) they aren't just a bunch of audio files anymore

I've downloaded the Natural Studio free kit, and the individual samples sound pretty sweet... i can't say more than that till i figure out how to get them triggered by a midi file in cubase (i'm very new to this home music production stuff). Hopefully this weekend i'll get the time to read up on it, and be producing some devastating beats in no time

Sounds good man!:headbang:

Let me know how it turns out for you!

I downloaded the sf2-version. But how does it work in cubase?
How do I assign the samples to midi notes?

I'm not really familiar with Cubase specifically, but generally you load the Soundfont into a sampler. In Cubase, the sampler will probably be a VST instrument. And the sampler assigns the samples to the MIDI notes.

Anyone here familiar with Cubase able to help Thidrek out?

I'm in the same boat. I havn't had time to figure it out yet, though i'll certainly post here if i do (perhaps someone else can help us first).

Alright, just download synthfont. You can simply attach your soundfonts to the tracks you have in the midi file of your choice and than record the whole thing and import the resulting wave file into cubase or whatsoever afterwards.
