I use FL Studio with Drumkit from Hell samples.

Once you get the hang of it, it's both flexible and powerful. I found no limitations using it.

I bought my copy of FL Studio, but I'm sure you could.......find it..... :) somewhere on the internet for free.

I use the same setup as you, maybe somewhere this week ill put up a sample.

Edit: Here is it is

That's sounding really good! The drumrolls don't sound robotic, and the blastbeats and double kick grooves are sounding great. You could either tweak a little with the EQ of the hi-hat or just turn its volume down to get it to stick out a little less.

You can check out what I've done with my setup here:
Let me know what you think stands out!

Nice shit dude, In "A final sunset" the snare sounds really real. Your vocals are awesome to, i am just beginning to learn them, got any vocal recording tips?

How did you get the crash so loud without making the snare louder? I always have that problem. And i know the hi hat is a bit much but when its closed its allot softer and i use a closed hi hat the most.

And how do you get the balance with the Bassdrum and the bass right? As of now i just do it 70/30 In favor of the bassdrum.

I added you on my myspace to and you deserve the compliment from DG although you are still a basterd for getting it haha:lol: :kickass:

Layer the vocals!! When you layer them, you can either leave them all in the center, or you can pan half partway left and half partway right. Experiment with this and you can get some really cool effects... For instance, the verse vocals from "Dark Flames" have: 2 high-pitched growls (1 panned completely left and 1 panned completely right) over top of a low-pitch growl in the center.

What set up are you using? Do you have all your drum sounds on one track? Or do you have each separate sound on its own track?

Yeah i already do that, but do you layer the clean vocals to? Because i love the way it sounds like 10 guys in a bar are singing:kickass: And what effects do you use because your growls sounds really nice and thick.

Well i am forced to use an striped down pre setup set because my pc cant really handle all the samples seperate. The problem with this is that for some wierd reason the snare gets mixed up with the ambience so when i put the ambience higher the snare goes with it.

Alright, just download synthfont. You can simply attach your soundfonts to the tracks you have in the midi file of your choice and than record the whole thing and import the resulting wave file into cubase or whatsoever afterwards.

I followed your lead and tried this out... and it works! I still need to work out the finer details (EQ tweeks etc) to getting everything sounding just right, but it's good to make some progress.

Thanks, that's the sound I was looking for! :headbang:

I definitely layer my clean vocals as well...moreso than my growls actually! The only effects I use are compression (to make the vocal sound itself a little 'tighter' and to bring it out in the mix) and reverb or delay (to make the vocals sit a little better in the mix). Experiment with it yourself, and find what works well for your vocal type. You can really create some sweet sounds with layering!

I'd say it was the harmonizing lead parts that come in about 0:38 that really got my attention. And, i'm sure you won't mind the comparison, the wordless singing at around 1:40 reminded me alot of david gold (i forget which WoY song i was thinking of in particular).

I'm having a tough time picking a favourite bit! It's a solid track... perhaps when the "harmonizing lead parts" re-enter with vocals? I'm a sucker for melodic twin guitars

Awesome, man!! I have 2 questions for you now... What is your favorite part of AFS? What parts stood out the most when you first were listening to it?

The first snare hits because they sounds so real, And my favorite part are the first growls because it reminds me of the morningrise album from opeth(my favorite album)

And the clean vocals are nice, i am going to try some on my new song to but dont hold me on it.
