USA Jackson, I just got a USA Rhoads for $1000 and it was in perfect shape.

They're about half that, but Ibanez RG550's are badass as well, I hate to say it but I like how it plays better than the Jacksons (but it doesnt feel or sound quite as good) but for $500-600, you can't go wrong.

indeed, maybe you should go for the S-series from Ibanez, I've got the custom S540 and it plays like heaven (this expression doesn't sound cool though...). I also have an american Rhoads, it sounds indeed better but it is more difficult to plays... Maybe the S-series with an EMG81?

I have basically the same model of guitar as Macalpine(I have the DC727, he plays the DC747 I think), and it has a floyd rose style bridge on it. Works perfectly fine.

Yeah he uses the H-S-H setup.

make sure it sounds alright on clean settings, the last thing you want is a guitar that makes a loud horrible TWANG noise when playing live in a clean part of a song. id recommend a fender mexistrat or ESP LTD, but thats just me.

my 747c stays in tune fine also. I think you can get the locking nut option for insurance as well.
