google chrome minus the data collecting hassle

It says in the terms, kind of early in the terms & agreements even, that Google Chrome collects data to improve Google & Google Chrome.
It also says that if you wish to get rid of this, the source is free, and all you have to do is compile it(The source did not contain the code that collects data.).. at least thats how it was when i tried it out when it was released.

I tried it and I like the fact that it loads pages a bit quicker but I'm too used to IE7's interface to make the move, especially the way it handles scrolling in all directions.

I'll just quote Kev because I fully agree with what he said in another thread :)
Nope its, perfectly good when you're firewalled to fuck, just like any other web browser :) It gets a bad rep as a large percentage of the worlds morons are using it, besides its odd vulnerability that microsoft patch up within a couple of days.

Apple just had to plug 50 holes in its latest update for safari (3% of the browser market), so if you're using that thinking you're somehow safe from any incoming attacks then think again. Similarly, last year Mozilla recorded 99 vulnerabilities, which is the highest amount ever recorded for any browser to date. As we see Firefox near toward a 50% market share, I expect to see it becoming a hot target alongside IE.

People have to remember that none of these browsers are safe, if you're a good hacker you'll get through any WAN facing app, just don't get fooled by the anti-MS stuff, they get the wrap for a plethora of obvious reasons :) .

me neither but I always dislike that "number of vulnerabilities" war, so I added my 2cents with "they" referring to "people creating statistics about the differences between browers" but humour didn't get through the post. What I wanted to say, is that those comparisons are just stupid.

Besides, I think sticking with IE is a bad idea, it's more often buggy, quite slow etc. I keep it only for payment sites.

About google chrome data collecting issues : it's expectable and it's even written in the agreements. I think google is OK about that but as a principle I won't deal with it. I don't wanna use any of Chrome or IE to be free of any of that issues. It's already frightening to see how google/youtube first page/amazon are accurate in aiming your personnal interests.
