:erk: Yes, this is my face right now.

Due to some delay and severe planning changes, I have now to reamp, mix and master 5 songs in a few days and believe me, this is a real challenge for me as there are many vocals tracks and samples and synths!!! Hey, I'm not a pro!

I started today by reamping the main guitar tracks of one song and working on the sound of the basic trio drums/gtr/bass with Ermz book as my friend. Even if this first attempt is not very shitty - although cloudy or boomy - I'm not confident at all! So my friends, I need your help once again! I know it's quite boring to listen to something with no vocals yet but things go step by step... What do you think? What would I need to do in order to get something a bit better?

Hi Heabow!
For my taste guitars have more open sound in first example, the real problem is in drums I think. They not sitting in the mix, try to find more correct balance for the drum kit, also some of cymbals sounds annoyingly and unnatural.
Anyway, really good song for mixing, simple and catchy. :headbang:

Would be cool to get the raws for this one :)
Good luck with this job! ;)

I don't think it's the drums. But I also don't think there's a problem at all :p I really like how the fixed track sounds. Didn't like the guitars in the first one, but they're perfectly fine now :)

Thanks a lot for listening and taking the time to respond! I appreciate!
I wanted a more organic drum sound but the snare, which is a bit harsh, and the aggressive sounding OH give an annoying tone to the overall to my ears. I'd like to get rid of this particularity without knowing exactly to achieve that :/ The kick makes the mix pump on this clip, I fixed it. How the bass/gtr pair sounds to you?

I like the drums way more on that last mix, I don't like 2 things, the kick drum, I think it needs a bit more low end, and the bass, I don't how you worked with those, the kick drum is better than the bass, I'd really love to hear some more low end and presence from the bass.

Hum that's weird. The low end is very prominent on my system (and on my DT770) and it sounds almost boomy to my ears. Will check that again.

Sounds a great mix to me, the guitar tone in second clip is the better one, the drums in the last clip are great I wouldnt touch it anymore, now import the guitar tone from the second clip and you are ready to go, in my opinion of course.

Seriously, in the second clip the guitar tone has the right balance to my hears, nice mids without too much low mids like the last clip.

yep, guitars in 2 are meaty and sit better. The snare came along nicely. At first, had a sharp edge on the transient but sounds more natural now. Guitars 2 with present drums gets my vote.

I have some spare time because the band really me to put some arrangements. Not imported the vocal tracks yet but you'll get esaily the idea ;) Would be happy to know your thougths about it: http://we.tl/YHhibRpR7w
