Great "different" metal mixes.

Ah sweeets man! Maybe you can send me a preset for that, and we can use it on every single album we produce until 2033!!

Sure, sure, just keep it to yourself, I don't want everyone using this:

Jesus drew, yo' band be bitchin'! Seriously though, I really like post-metal/rock and your stuff sounds amazing. Very Tool-esque, but unique. I do have one suggestion to an otherwise perfect production: the sibilance in the reverb of the vocals kinda distracts from the music, but maybe that's just me.

On topic: I'm glad Mastodon's The Hunter was mentioned arround here. Curl of the burl has the thickest guitars i've ever heard.
Also, check out electric wizard's stuff. Stoner/sludge metal at it's best right there.
For more conventional, but still unique and natural sounding, check out audioslave's self titled album.

Not necessarily all metal but here's some recent-ish stuff I think sounds awesome:

Mastodon - The Hunter
Kylesa - Spiral Shadow
Black Pyramid - I & II
Red Fang - Murder the Mountains
In Flames - A Sense of Purpose
Karma To Burn - Appalachian Incantation
Kvelertak - Kvelertak
Down - Over the Under
Karnivool - Sound Awake
Fair to Midland - Arrows & Anchors

And yeah, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster album fo' sho!

Some great, great sounding records here for sure. Interesting to hear Down now saying they feel the last record was overproduced!

I think anything by Voivod is interesting, the production tends to play into the concept I think, which is great.

The guitars sound really loose and grainy but I really like how it all fits together. It's probably a very sampled album but it sounds very live compared to a lot of mixes.

last two Abigor albums. Drums sound like plastic barrels but it works somehow.

Good suggestions, I`ll keep checking them out.

Some gems that I can think of:

Vreid -Kraft, I think they mixed it themselves. Synths sound especially awesome.

song:Helvete

Watain -Lawless darkness, Necromorbus Studio (I enjoy Tore Stjernas shit in general, I think he has posted on this forum?)

song:Malfeitor

+1 for the latest ABIGOR albums. They sound UNIQUE and incredibly mad. Really they're great, especially the last one, which is a kind of musical black hole. One of my favorite album ever.

EMPEROR's "Anthems". Ugly and dirty, but it makes it very mysterious and mystical. This album is to music what moon if for the sun.

I'm really digging the whole production on Caliban - I am Nemesis. Just feels like everything has it's space and i love the bass/guitar relationship.

Manowar - Louder than hell. Bass is panned hard left, and karl's guitar panned hard right. Er..that's quite different. Sounds okay though.
