Sorry, I could not disagree more........

1,000 copies worldwide at best.....

If they toured, I would not expect more than 75 to 100 in attendance....

Look, I like GR too, but they were always "C" level at best in terms of popularity.

I think you are underestimating their popularity, at least overseas. In terms of US attendance, you're probably overestimating.

I thought they were one of the more popular NWOBHM bands though. I could've sworn I read that anyways. Then again, in terms of what popular means in that regard.

I mean debating Grim Reaper's appeal is like debating honestly any 80s band appeal....

We have all seen bands like Diamond Head play in front of 50 people, so there you go....

Exciter played at Reggies in front of less than 100 people.

Simon - here in the states GR were never marketed as a NWOBHM band because at the time it was not a hip term to use.

And because they came out after the NWOBHM scene ended.

Agreed.........
But I know where Simon is coming from because nowadays they are always referred to as a NWOBHM band though they were certainly more a part of the 80s US "light thrash" scene, as I always called it (IE - Metal Church, Armored Saint, etc.....)

Regardless of genre, they are a great band.
Very curious to see how this plays out.

How many times though in the past 5 years has Grimmett discussed a potential Grim Reaper or Steve Grimmett Band or Grimmett tour????

Me thinks if the demand and interest of US promoters were high enough it would have happened.

I still think it will be a VERY hard sell unless they go on the road with another band

Come on man....
You know exactly what I am talking about here......

I think you said you were into metal in the 80s....

You had "thrash" and then, well.......everything else.....

Bands like MC, Saint, Savatage, some Fates Warning, etc, etc were not heavy enough for the thrashers, but too heavy for the commercial metal crowds.

I think people fail to remember that there weren't 50 genres to choose from when classifying a band.

First of all Jason you are WRONG! The Grimmett is a legend period.
The Grimmett can do no wrong and everything he has ever done since Chateaux has been awesome.
I did not know this was happening so soon, I was speaking with Steve at one point about doing this. One thing I so want to do is an album with Grimmett, and then one with Manilla Road.

I remember in the 80s all the thrash guys I knew (not the Metallica dweebs but the real thrashers) all respected Savatage. Savatage was a band that everyone agreed was awesome and you could get the mall chicks into them too.
The chicks always dug King Diamond to come to think of it.
