Grind educate me?

Looking to get more familiar with the genre...

I'm looking for the obvious classics (new and old) I just dont know about because I'm completely unfamiliar.... obscure stuff can come later.

Some of what I've already heard... and really liked

Pig Destroyer ~ Prowler in the Yard
Pig Destroyer ~ Terrifyer
Insect Warfare ~ World Extermination
Agoraphobic Nosebleed ~ Frozen Corpse Stuffed with Dope
Some Brutal Truth stuff...
Anaal Nathrakh

I've also heard tons of deathgrind that I dont want to bother listing... and a few forgettable bands here and there... I will also go out on a limb and say I dont like Scum.

I'd like to keep it as straight up grindcore as possible... but sub genres couldnt hurt... the heavier the better.

You can't go wrong with Nasum, I'd also suggest Antigama and, moving into deathgrind or proggrind, you could try Psyopus.

I always thought of Anaal Nathrakh as a black metal/grind band... and... I still dont like Scum.

Good to see Siege get a mention. Definitely one of the earliest predictors of grind. They took hardcore punk and pushed it to it's most extreme boundaries.

bad choice. IMO, the only good Barney-era ND record is Utopia Banished, which is miles ahead of Harmony Corruption.

Replusion is a must. World Downfall is even MORE of a must. Also, get some Mortician albums...try it out. And a few other bands...Brujeria, maybe Ingrowing, and Nausea (Oscar on vocals from Terrorizer). Some you'll like some you may not.
