hi guys
here your talkin about hard growl compression

what do you guys mean exactly - the big theshold? or small attack/release?

my favourite for tracking is to track through an 1176 set to 8 to 1 with the threshold at 18.25
attack at 2
and release at 6 (they're backwards on it) so thats actually a slower attack and release for an 1176..
oh yeah and make sure the V.U reaches a maximum of around 10 db attenuation... no more.
all button mode can sometimes work but is wildly unpredictable, and sometimes a little too savage(unless the singer is a pussy) and the v.u just does what it feels like

no probs dude.
those tips are pretty specific to the 1176, and to the specific one i'm familiar with; they all sound and work ever so slightly differently.

but still a medium ish attack and release and a very low threshold on most comps will probably do it.
the 1176 is super fast so you have to slow it down a bit occasionally so the transients dont get destroyed.
