Guilty Pleasures (80's songs)

Sirius Satellite Radio has an 80's station that reminds me of Flash FM. I'm usually listening to that channel whenever I get sick of HardAtak. Again my love for cheesy 80's stuff lol. A guilty pleasure of mine...hence the name of this thread.

XM's got one too but the name is excaping me right now. I rarely get to drive the new car.

commercial/pop metal & heavier blues rock

for a little revival of the old Zep sound
Still of the Night - Whitesnake
Do you like it & Get it on - Kingdomcome
for some bluesy stuff
Rock Me & House of Broken Love - Great White
Angel Eyes - Jeff Healey
Long Cold Winter - Cinderella
Dont Walk Away - Firehouse
all of 5150 & OU812
greatest ass kickin riff and groove excluding EV's
Leave Me Alone - White Lion recorded in 91 but the tail end of the 80's sound
power ballad
I'll Never Let You Go (best) - Steelheart due to the sheer intensity of the vocals
others
Hold Your Fire, & Reach for the Sky - Firehouse
Ah Leah - Donny Iris
ZZ Top was always fun 70's thru 80's

Loved the Cars & Dire Straits early stuff but believe it or not that was like 78/79

rarely listen to this stuff anymore

XM's metal station is shit though...the only music channels I listen to are 40, 41, 46, and 49.

whats in the 40's ? I forget. I jump around from Deep Tracks, Big Tracks & The Bone Yard when something comes on I dont want to hear. My wife likes one of the more current commercial ones but that makes me want to change it sometimes too. We get XM on our Direct TV, but not Boneyard for some reason. Quite often at night I actually put on Watercolors or the Old Standards channel to fall asleep too. For some reason I like my fathers generations stuff now. Sooths my achs and relax's me at the end of the day.

The 40's are the rock channels you just mentioned.

But I've been impressed with 49.. I've heard a lot of Yes which makes me happy

I can pick and choose some stuff I like today, just like I did in the 80's. It was a good era though but couldnt last forever. It was getting real old by 91 or argueably even earlier. While the 80's mood/attitude had its downside it was a better atmosphere I think. I believe alot has to do with someones age at the time. I was really mostly discusted in the mid-late 70's, I remember that but I was between 18&22 looking for more. Disco, overly repetitive simplistic hard rock bands like Kiss, Foreigner, Foghat, really wanky pop rock songs, punk, none of this appealed to me. I began listening to mostly fusion and more progressive rock or hard rock at that time.

I like some cheesy 80s stuff but I feel a bit embarrased about listening to it seeing as I was not born when the music came out.. I don't feel like that about listening to classic metal though.

Tears for Fears was really big, what was that the early/mid 80's? U2, Men at Work, others I can think of, dont know what that music was called. It seemed to evolve from New Wave sorta or came around as an alternative to new wave.
