I am sorry, I realized how that made me sound like a dick. I mean that you can't really mix an untight mix because artifacts can get in the way. If you record to grid right, Kick, then bass and then guitar, you will notice a vacuum effect.
A band I worked with a year ago, their guitarist came to me and asked, why do the other bands recordings sound so much better than ours? And I am like "no offense, but you guys just can't play tight enough." he didn't believe me, so I rerecorded their song for them, with me on guitar, and then I showed them, and it sounded way better. AND everything was mixed completely the same. I didn't even touch anything just retracked. It's not just timing, but picking technique along with pocket, sustains, and finger sliding etc....Just needs to be cohesive. Mixing can be much more accurate from there.
