Guitar hero 5: This is so lame

They had a likeness of Dimebag as a character on one of the last ones didn't they.

I heard no complaints then...

Well I hate the game since every guitarist (included me) can't play the game becasue the notes are not synched with the audio lol!!!
I fail everytime since I try as a normal musician to play stuff on time lol
Guitar hero = fail
A game for loosers lol

Yeah, everytime I've played it I suck, but every person I know that's good at it can't play a real guitar anywhere near as well as me:lol:
I actually found it easier to play the game on the normal Xbox controllers than the GH controllers for some reason.

Urgh, Dimebag-esque character in the game?
Honestly I just wish all the media and that just left Dimebag's spirit alone.
He's moved on and so should we, just let him rest, fuck.

Well it's not like he gives a shit anyway. He's dead.

If I was dead and ended up getting my likeness used in a computer game I wouldn't really give a shit. Because I'd be dead.

I left a comment about this on Gametrailer's video review of GH5.
I said something along the lines of that I found it a bit weird that Johnny Cash and Kurt Cobain are "playable" characters in GH5 because they, and Cobain especially seemed to shun the whole idea of "rock stars." I don't know about Cash, but Cobain for sure seemed to find the whole thing a farce and it seems to just go against everything he believed in to have him in a game.
I'm not even a Cobain fanboy but it's a matter of principle, it just seems sort of tasteless to put a guy like him in a fucking video game.

And on the Dimebag thing, that character was just a likeness. Before Activision took over making the GH games (GH3 onwards) Harmonix didn't include any celebrity characters, just ones that sorta payed homage to certain rockstars. It's a thin line to toe, sure, but as much as GH1 and 2 were still video games that obviously were money making machines above all else, it still felt like Harmonix had their integrity and respect for the source material. I don't buy GH games anymore for that exact reason. There's that and the fact that Guitar Hero and Rock Band need to start switching track lists. GH5 is literally nearly all stuff that doesn't really qualify as guitar HERO sort of stuff, to me that implies stuff that would be technical, virtuostic, challenging, blah blah, not Blur and Kings of Leon, while Rock Band implies that Blur and Kings of Leon would be a much better fit there, but instead you get awesome shit for the last half of the track list anyway. Prequel To The Sequel? Fuck yeah.

Tasteless makes money, and all that counter culture idealism that Cobain "stood" for is really just another part of popular culture in itself. It's not like he shunned the rockstar paycheque, drugs, booze and cheap women lifestyle anyway. Courtney Love being the eternal proof of that.

They cash in on these people for decades after they're dead, and yes its a fucking joke, but the best you can do is to stop buying Che Guevarra t-shirts, Guitar Hero and beat the shit out of Johnny Rotten for trying to sell us butter.

really?

I've always found that the frets are your quarter counts for your click track and the unfaithfulness to the actual song was due to lack of notes/buttons.

It's not really like playing guitar. It's like another instrument (if you want to call it that) because you have you have to learn it from scratch.

But yeah I'm not too big on GH either *shrugs* I get bored of it really easily.

I used to be totally, TOTALLY addicted to Guitar Hero. I beat Raining Blood on expert on GH3, I'd say that qualifies me as at least a pretty decent player >_< haha
98% on impulse on expert? D:

bleh
i used to fucking love that shit

oblivion makes me hate the games industry with a fucking passion
only bethesda can make a game with: last-last-gen animations, broken levelling, some of the worst voice acting and dialogue ever recorded and written and stodgy gameplay mechanics and get hundreds of game of the year awards

dead space also isnt scary :(

recently i have been enjoying replaying the half-life series, and i am going to get batman arkham asylum when its out on PC :D

At 00:25 it doesn't seem the notes on the fretboard follow the main lead the game is playing, there's some shit off the beat or thers's some stuff added

Yeah the vibrato. When you wail on the whammy bar you get more star power, it's not there to sound good, it's there to help you get teh pointz.

rock band is far better charted than guitar hero nowadays

yeah that does seem out of time o_O. Dunno, Not disagreeing with you, might just be the youtube video or that particular song, but I've managed to memories some of the GH 1's songs and have done well without looking at the screen. I've learned it because of figuring out the timing of the song. It's why I assumed they gave you the frets before any notes come on the screen.

Kurt's been quite a hypocrite in the first place IMHO, so this suits his legacy rather well. But seeing his likeness in something entitled "Guitar Hero" is quite ironic indeed.
