Thats awsome. I must find out how to do that. I have both 1 & 2 and I must figure that out.

Edit: I looked into how to do this and the process made my brain hurt. I think I'll stay with the original songs. Great stuff though.

I think I might actually buy the game now that my local best buy has taken the demo away. I considered getting it earlier but everytime I went to best buy, they had the first one set up where you could play it and now it's gone. I like playing real guitar alot better but I will admit that guitar hero is pretty damn addictive.

There is also a free version of Guitar Hero you can get for the PC as well, called "Frets On Fire". People have ripped all the songs out of Guitar Hero 1 & 2 and have them available for this game, along with others. It's got a pretty big following.

The graphics aren't as good, meaning no characters on the screen playing, but the rest of it is there.

I've always wondered if it was possible to get your own songs in that game. I thought about trying it out myself, but I don't want to hassle with modding my PS/2 to do it. I may go and buy the game anyway.

Will be interesting to see what they include inevitable Guitar Hero III

I was unaware of that. Definantly gonna have to go check that out.

Xbox 360 version's coming in a few months, and yes, they'll incorporate the Xbox Live abilities to download new songs.

I have a feeling they'll see the demand for making our own songs and uploading them to share them, and things will get HUGE.

The Xbox 360 version also has The Trooper:headbang:

There is a "hacked" version of the PS2 Guitar Hero with an amazing tracklist. Off the top of my head, I can remember that it has Kamelot, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Blind Guardian, Dark Moor, Pantera, and Symphony X.

every time i want to learn to play guitar, I pick up guitar hero, and within an hour I remember why I don't want to learn to play guitar.

There is absolutely no correlation whatsoever in your abilities with Guitar Hero and a real guitar. My friends were telling me, "Oh man, don't let Sean get up here on this. He's friggin' awesome on guitar." I immediately told them that Guitar Hero is a completely different beast, and they saw why :D I scored consistently in the 30% area in most categories, haha. So afterwards, I played Halloween (by Helloween) for them on the real deal to convince them, as well as to regain my dignity  So please don't let Guitar Hero affect your desire to play a real guitar.

Edit: Oh, don't get me wrong. Knowing guitar can help in playing Guitar Hero, i.e. holding the buttons down and "stroking" your "pick" at the right times. But that's pretty much the only correlation I can think of between the two. The hammer-on's and pull-offs that the game tries to employ just don't feel right - I mean, you still have to pick the damn things! Anyway, I could get really good at that game if I practiced it over and over like my friends have done. However, it still bugs me to no end that I have to play pentatonic licks, arpeggios, and other things on just five multi-colored buttons. Yuck! Ok, ranting done :)
