This might have been discussed in the video games thread, but I just wanted to ask if you're seeing this craze where you are.

What's becoming annoying is seeing all these people walking around NYC with the guitar console strapped around their back like they're some roadie / rockstar. Either on the street or on the subway. It's madness I tell you.

I bought the game and played it for a few hours, then I sobered up and realized I suck at the game and will never aspire to anything with it. Haven't played since.

Ali have you seen the latest episode of South Park entitled "Guitar Queero" ?

The game is fun in brief stints every now and then, but any one who thinks their a virtuoso because they beat "John the Fisherman" on Expert is a faggot. Please tell me you were kidding about noodle dancing faggoths toting plastic guitars in public...

I thought the game was pretty boring...

Even if you like game a lot, why the fuck do you wear the 'guitar' in public?

I see them in SLC a lot on the weekends. Walking from competition to competition trying to earn money to pay the rent they owe since they waste all their money and time on the game instead of aspiring to anything (at least, thats what I think). It's like WOW, except you look even more lame when you play it.

Dozens of people, everyday. You notice it more on the subway during rush hour and you know why? Because people wear the guitars on their backs, you know, like you might do with a real guitar in a guitar bag. But these aren't in bags, they're just tied around the shoulder with a piece of string or something. So on the subway train, you've got someone in front of you and their goddam plastic guitar thing is shoved halfway up your nose.

Yeah I think people are either walking from tournament to tournament, or just going to someone's apartment for a "duel". I'm sure they're all spotting each other and making polite conversation. Actually, there was a cute chick with a guitar the other day. Hmm.

Oh and everyone is posting their stuff to youtube now too.

On that particular South Park episode, Stan's father picks up his real guitar and starts jamming in front of Stan and all his friends. They quickly tell him to pipe down as playing a real instrument is so square.

I've actually never seen someone walking around with one of these silly guitars around their neck. I find the very idea quite laughable.

I've seen my nieces and nephews play the game. There's obviously no correlation between the game and the actual instrument. The idea that playing "Guitar Hero" makes you a musician is as silly as believing that kicking ass at "Gears of War" qualifies you for Special Ops.

Zod

One day, my black friend (who of course listens to rap) IMs me, saying "RAINING BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOD." I say "what the fuck, since when do you listen to Slayer?" "Guitar Hero." :erk:
