That's it, GP6 is getting me even more frustrated than ever. I just realized you just cannot copy paste measures on top of existing measures in GP6, which means you can only paste a whole section (with all the notes on all instruments) or you can only paste your individual measures with it creating blank measures for the other instruments. It's like copy pasting in Word where at every paste you do it moves it to a new blank page instead of pasting it where your cursor is. That company is totally retarded, the new version has gone backwards huge time, the GUI sucks, is slow and sluggish on my macbookpro 2011, just to write a few notes, they removed key features, and aren't able to implement a normal paste function in their shiny program. On top of that they don't listen to their customers (I have seen so many rants similar to mine on their forum). It's incredible.

My rant over, I'm really needing to go back to version 5. Problem is that it seems it's impossible to buy it anymore for mac, and it doesn't work on the current OsX version anyway and is of course discontinued.

So does any of you have luck with it ?

Do you know if using paralellos or virtualbox or any other virtualization program would do the trick ? I could install it on my dualboot, but having to turn off the computer, manage a second install of Reaper on windows etc just to be able to compose on guitar pro is a turn off. I would like to be able to start GP5 while I'm playing guitar, so that when I have a good idea I can carve it in stone right away and create my tab, because that is my workflow and that is how I wrote songs in the matter of a few hours sometimes.

I would pay to have GP5 working on macosx.

I run GP5 in VMware without any issues. It works great!

Edit: If you have the latest OS X patch for GP5 and 10.6, get info on the application and check Open using Rosetta. It'll allow the application to open...sometimes. It can take two to three tries. Lion dropped Rosetta, so this won't work in 10.7.

I am on Lion, so I guess there is no other way than using a virtualization program. If you say it works great, then I have hope again cause I have had no luck until now and I have tried several times to get into GP6 but I just can't no matter how hard I try !

First off I have purchased Guitar Pro legitimately 5 but I have to use a updated cracked version since they stopped supporting it.
I'm using 5.3.2b2 on Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I think its a user update that wasn't made my the company. I can't remember where I got it from unfortunately.

Yeah, seems like no one made it work on 10.7. It's such a shame, it's a wonderful software !

I feel stupid, my W7 disk is at home in France (I live in Portugal atm) so I can't even install it for the moment. I don't need it per say but even modifying my own tabs is a pain, just because of that copy paste thing ! I found the way to do it but it's retarded : when you copy a part, you need to select again where you wanna paste it, and it has to be longer. Then it pastes it inside your selection. Otherwise, it pastes it via inserting before. It's absolutely counter intuitive and an incredible loss of time every time you wanna copy/paste or invert the guitar parts ! I don't even know how people do to tab on this software, it is just so annoying. On a PC keyboard the layout was perfect around the numpad and all the shortcuts made sense, and the editing was super fast. I could write a technical death metal song in 30mn if I wanted to !
