Guitar Pro

What I find very annoying its the memory leaks. Even without using RSE (i hate that), every time I play and stop one song, automatically GP eats 20mb of RAM. If you are composing, you could imagine how much memory it will take after 30 min of work.

Is there or will there be a way to use a midi controller to record notations into guitar pro? For example, programming a basic drum beat (kick and snare).
It would be much quicker to run through instead of point-clicking-typing kicks and snares and cymbal crashes here and there; I don't mind it that much but
using a midi controller would be nice. Quantizing (with parameter settings) the incoming midi notes would probably be useful too.

Is there a program out there that is like this already?

I can't say it for sure but I'm almost sure you could use a midi controller to program in GP, I remember my ex-girlfriend once told me she used her keyboard with a midi cable and started playing shit in Gp and recorded it. But can't be sure, don't know how it would be done

guitar pro is amazing. I believe it revolutionized they way people compose/practise. Its a great way to generate midi stuff and its a great way to analyze an entire song prior to recording. My composing has become much more organized and technical since stumbling upon gp. For those who knows how to read musical notes should be able to use this with little effort.

I'm also one of those who tab everything in it and work with mates by sending the files.

One other cool thing, is that if you have a new musician in your band... Yop, you send him the files, and he has everything he needs to learn the songs quickly !

I write EVERYTHING in Guitar Pro. I have like 300 files with ideas/song. I would be lost without it. It's really easy to use.

Yup I'm on the same page, I still have complete songs and ideas for my old defunct bands here in my pc. It's really satisfying when a midi track you have in your pc becomes a real recorded or performed live song some day

This. Guitar pro is the bee's knees. Every song I've ever written except 2 have started in guitar pro.

I remember when I first found guitar pro. icame. I used to buy music books. It saved me this cost, and also the whole thing is so damn intuitive and probably responsible for getting me as far as I have on the guitar without actually ever taking a "guitar lesson".

Well I finally gave Guitar Pro a quick test drive this evening on both Mac and Windows. The Mac version is much easier to use. The Windows version seems to have way too many toolbars on display by default, I'm more of a keyboard kinda guy. It took me longer than I thought to try tab out something though. I defo need my guitar in hand for this. I tabbed the intro finger-plucked riff of Seether - Broken. I'm going to need a lot more time with this software for sure!

Yeah, its definitely handy for that.

I use it to get my chops up to speed, its great for playing along with solos, I've become a bit of a pedant in just trying to nail every single note. Writing stuff with it is good as well - although I find sometimes it doesnt always translate as nicely to reality as I would have wanted.

GP is a great tool!

I use it in my "band" too. (I compose the music and the other guys have to learn it note for note). :p

haha that's how my band works. (sadly, i'm the one learning :()

GP is definitely a great tool in both learning songs and composing.
