GUNS N' ROSES, SLIPKNOT, JOURNEY, QUEENSRŸCHE and WHITESNAKE members are among the rock musicians who have reacted on social media to the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history after a gunman opened fire at a country music concert Sunday night in Las Vegas, killing more than fifty people and injuring more than four hundred others. The gunman, identified by police as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, began shooting at concert goers from the thirty-second floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, which is near the outdoor concert space on the Las Vegas Strip. Paddock was killed after a SWAT team burst into the hotel room from which he was firing at the crowd. "Right now we believe it's a solo act, a lone wolf attacker," Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said. "We are pretty confident there is no longer a threat." Paddock reporteddly began firing at 10:08 p.m. from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel toward the concert venue across the street. Jason Aldean was performing at the three-day Route 91 Harvest country music festival across Las Vegas Boulevard from the Mandalay Bay when the shooting erupted. Paddock reportedly checked in to the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on September 28 and had an "excess of ten rifles" in his hotel room, Lombardo said. The suspect's brother, Eric Paddock, told NBC News he was "dumbfounded" by the shooting. "He was just a guy," Eric Paddock said. "He lives in Mesquite, he went to the hotels, he gambled, he went to shows." "We are completely at a loss," he added.
