I'm trying to decide between a set of EMG 707TWs and a set of Duncan Blackouts for my custom 7 string that's being built, and right now I'm leaning towards the 707TWs because of the coil tap single coil sounds available... I like using a single coil sound for clean playing a lot... but I really like how the Blackouts sound... kind of like a balance between EMG's and passives... but they aren't coiltappable and they don't have a 7 string version of the single coil.
So, do any of you know where I could hear the Blackouts being played clean? I just want to hear the tonality of them.... both the neck pickup and also the middle position that mixes the bridge and neck together (for a brighter sound).......
Which pickups go in this guitar really depends on how good the Blackouts can sound clean... Help me out if you can.
