I was watching this live when it happened. This girl is from Montreal and her name is Caroline Marcil. She is most likely french and not from the US...the reason she was signing (or attempting to at least...) the US anthem is because it was Canada versus the US.
No reason for forgetting the words but it's not her own anthem...I'm sure she would sing the Canadian one no problem.

It's funny that you say that because the singer was canadian and this was in Québec, Canada...
I guess you can still move to Canada if you want.
