The fast-rising heavy metal band, Age of Evil, will be supporting the first-ever U.S. shows for Hail - which is comprised of such renowned names as Tim “Ripper” Owens (singer, Judas Priest), Andreas Kisser (guitarist, Sepultura), Dave Ellefson (bass, F5), and Mike Portnoy (drums, Dream Theater). The shows will take place at B.B. Kings in New York City on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, and at Showcase Live in Foxborough, MA (just outside Boston) on Wednesday, January 27, 2010.

Mike f'nin' Portnoy! Really?

this band played many shows throughout 2009, but not in the States.

Portnoy was not in the original lineup of this band, forgot who, maybe someone from Sepultura?

I really think Ripper needs to do something original.
I don't know why he didn't continue with BEYOND FEAR.
TBH, I never heard it, but if I recall it got good reviews.

I suppose his other "hired gun" projects earn more $$$$$$$$$$$

I think the reason he doesn't pursue Beyond Fear is it really wasn't all that good. I don't think he's fell into his own as a songwriter yet. His solo albums are usually.. well.. meh. The voice is there, but there's really nothing longstanding and I've since sold them on eBay.

I'm thinking he needs to surround himself with a "super group" so to speak and write some original material. Or join a group that needs a singer *cough Anthrax cough* and contribute and learn more. Not to have this confused with him joining bands (IE, JP, YJM) that predominately do all the writing and will welcome a newcomer into their process.

He's on my favorite singer list and I'm always wanting to hear more and I'm thinking as soon as he actually finds a "home" and not just something to pay the bills we'll hear something amazingly kick ass.

You know, I actually liked Beyond Fear. I thought the first album was pretty good for a first album. The only problem with it is some of the material ran together. His solo disc in my opinion, outside of a couple songs was pretty poor. I think he probably is one of the top 5 singers, but the problem is he's just not a very good songwriter, so I think he needs to just be a singer in a good quality band with some great musicians.
