One needs to look no further than the organ solo in Resonance to understand why the Hammond organ is by far the most awesome keyed instrument ever. Ad Noctum is another example of a great organ performance on a Borknasong.

I want one.

yeah i was pretty impressed when i heard the solo on resonance, it's done by Lars, what else would you expect..? hehe

Don't forget every second of "In Harmonia Universali" by Solefald!
Do they have samples on their website or a MySpace page or anything? I haven't checked them out yet, I'd like to get a feel for them before I order anything though. If it's organish though, I'm sure I'd dig it.

Apparently, you've never heard of Uriah Heap or Deep Purple - Jon Lord has been cranking out great Hammond organ tones with Deep Purple since the late 1960s. :kickass:

And, if you get one, you're going to have to open the back of it and do some tweaking, as well as get a Leslie rotating speaker cabinet for that sound.

All of their albums are totally different from one another so there is no real way to get a feel for them per say. If you like Hammond, I would say start with "In Harmonia Universali" first, Lazare uses that for most of the key work on that album. Do you have AIM? If you do I'll send you some songs.

I like UH and DP a lot (especially for the organs, whee!) but in the context of Borknagar or other quasi-black/epic/progressive metal craziness, it's pure bliss. Lord's solo in Highway Star does spring to mind as a fine example as well though, yes.

If I did get one, I'd probably just get the digital B3 that Hammond recently released. It's not the same, I know, but I'm kind of cheap and lazy. [/blasphemy]

Yeah, it's my default picture on MySpace. Don't worry, I didn't take it just for this thread... I'm ridiculous, but more in a comical and obnoxious kind of way, rather than insecure and petty.

karpsmom: No, I only use MSN, but thanks for the offer.
