yo dudes,

I ran into a Unmountable Boot Volume, bluescreen.

Whats my best bet into fixing this?

At the moment im running spinrite, but it seems to run waaayyy long.

I have most on back up, but i wouldnt mind not loosing the stuff i have on there :(

Anyone had the same problem? what did you do?

Cheers,

JB.

Which OS? I'm guessing XP. If you have a Vista/Win7 CD boot off of it. If not I'll find you a link for a WinPE ISO.

Get past the first OK button. Then hit Shift-F10, that'll pull up a command prompt. Run "diskpart", then at that prompt run "list vol". Does it show your drive with a letter? If not you'll have to run something like spinrite to recover the partition table. Once you have your data you should install on a new drive and get it off this one while you can.

I would stick with spinrite and let it run through the scan. It can take a long time because it is trying to force corrupt sectors to read for one last time so that any data on that sector can be noticed by the hard drives processor and moved to a healthy sector. After you run spinrite get the data off the drive and buy another one.
