the only 'emulator' type plug that I like is Colortone by Tritone Digital. I love the hell out of that plug..

Not great on everything, but when it works it's great.

I don't rely on one but several:

PSP
*Vintage Warmer
Mix Saturator
Mix Bass

Voxengo
**Lampthruster
Warmifier
AFTapeBuss
*HarmoniEQ

*Favorites

Hi, use Colortone Free with the SSL impulse and the color fader at 100%, I also use PSP Vintage Warmer and PSP Mix Pack.

On the mix bus I use colortone ->UAD Fairchild -> UAD Pultez EQP1A ->Vintage Warmer -> PSP Treble. I have tried other compressors instead of the Fairchild, Sonalksis' stuff sounds excellent.
PSP Treble I use just for widening but it also enables you to add some saturation.

MILAR is good fun. Charled Dye knows his shit. You can check a 4 part audio interview at http://www.psn.libsyn.com/ I think it's shows 18 to 21.
