Because it is amazing. The first book on the Occult I've found that doesn't scream 'new-age bullshit'.

Sounds somewhat interesting, though judging by the info availible on the hompage, it seems to be a bit too much pop culture; but perhaps it's just the "salesman rethoric" that puts me off. And also "- Michael Moynihan conducts a fireside chat with the Black Pope of the Church of Satan, Anton LaVey" -- znoooze.

The 'Pop Culture' sort of stuff is what makes it interesting. It's not so much about 'pop culture' as it is about getting rid of all the bullshit surrounding 'Magick' ie: robes and other such gayness.

"When I was younger and first starting to read up on the occult, i was always puzzled why it all seemed to be so 'ancient' - I'd read book after book looking for something to latch onto, but little of it had much relevance to my life and itnerests. Latin incantations, wands, daggers, robes, and other carious occult 'props' all seemed pointless to me and very ineffectual ways of making magick happen. I'de read about purification rituals, 'casting circle,' the 'Mass' of this or that, 'hand fasting' and all of this stuff that magicians were supposed to do, but where was the sorcery? When doe it get to the part where it explains how to make shit thappen? that's the part I was intersted in and it was the only part I was ever interested in. Forget about all this hokey Dungeons and Dragons nonsense, I wanted results."

Excpert from the intro which I just typed out for you.
