Human error in the voting tally last night saw Bree incorrectly evicted. Tonight she will re-enter the house and on Thursday the housemate who should have been evicted last night, will be leaving the house. Below is the full press release on the issue from Network Ten and Endemol Southern Star.
"Human error by Legion Interactive - administrators of the voting on Big Brother - resulted in Bree being incorrectly evicted from the Big Brother house last night.
Legion advised the error upon completion of its regular post eviction audit of voting. They have accepted full responsibility, and have undertaken to ensure something like this cannot occur again.
Endemol Southern Star, the producers of Big Brother, and Network Ten are very disappointed that this has happened and wish to reassure viewers that all possible steps to rectify the error are being taken.
Kris Noble, executive producer, Big Brother, said: "The most important thing is human error cannot be allowed to deprive Bree her chance to win the $1m prize."
Bree has elected to return to the house and will do so this evening in a live program at 7.30pm (AEST).
David Mott, general manager - network programming, Network Ten, added: "We are as disappointed as everyone that this has happened but believe everything that could be done to set the situation right has and is being done."
To ensure no unfair advantage, Bree has been under "lock-down" since 11pm last night and will be under the same strict rules not to discuss anything she has heard or seen in the few hours she was outside the Big Brother house that have applied to intruders Monica and Violeta.
On Thursday in a special one-hour show at 7.30pm the housemate who actually received the most number of votes will be evicted in a live program. That person's identity will be ascertained as a full and independent audit of the voting tally is completed over the next few days.
Voting for this week's eviction won't commence until after Thursday night's show. The two housemates with the most votes will depart in the previously announced double eviction show on Sunday 11 July."
