Have you paid for REAPER since its unlimited after evaluation time is over ?
I didn't because they say I'd have updates until version 5.99 and I'm waiting for them to announce that I would get version 6.0 lol

I don't think that, at least not with plugins and such ... I do think most people like to at the very least own their DAWs

I was gonna answer the poll but didn't see the option for "OP is fucking cheap"

guess I'll go with something else

Well I bought a DAW 500$ not so much long ago and I'm new to Reaper, but I'll buy it because I'm starting to know how it works on the surface and I think its great. I don't think I'm fucking cheap if I wait a few weeks to get the possibility to upgrade further when I'll get the license. When I become a customer I become a supporter and spread good words about a product to a good bunch of people/future customers.

Wawawawawawhatever

You didn't really make it clear that you've only recently started using it or that it's not your primary DAW. In fact it seemed like you tried to give the opposite impression. You could have easily mentioned that after my initial post but chose not to, seemingly on purpose and for the reasons stated

So I'm wrong, you're not cheap

Just a bit of a tool it seems

But I voted :)

Yes, recently. I used it from 2009 until earlier this year or free though (for personal use). That might sound cheap but by allowing an uninhibited trial they got a sale from me. I wouldn't have stayed with it and eventually bought it if they had gone for a different model. It works.

I downloaded the trial version. Used it a few times and let it sit. I'll probably never switch from Pro Tools....

I just started using Reaper because I got a new computer. I didn't pay for it yet because I'm still getting used to everything, but I will before I charge anyone for services that I provide using Reaper-specific functionality, like mixing or something. That's just good business conduct. I'll be damned if I'm going to rush into something like an engineering suite and buy it before I know how to use it though. That's common sense. How much does Reaper cost btw?

I have always liked the idea of Reaper, but there have always been things that i absolutely hate about it. I know that it is highly customizable, something that I really like, but it still cannot do things that I want.

So, I put that I don't use it. Every 6 months or so I will try it again, but I will not buy it without certain things being addressed. If they are, I will buy it immediately

Yes!

Even though I mainly use Cubase and Wavelab. On my laptop for instance I use Reaper for quicky rehearsal recordings and occasional quick ideas. At $60, it is a no brainer.

I love their philosophy on licensing. Even though it may screw them. I had a guy come over with Reaper sessions and his computer decided to shit the bed that day. So we pulled the drive copied everything and brought it all up on my machine with the trial, fully functional. Saved the session.

I bought it shortly after that :)

This is where I am at. I will state if I ever had a band that wanted me to use it on a project I wouldn't hessitate to buy it for that purpose (even if it was just to bounce tracks into another DAW). But I haven't done anything beyond recording a couple 20 second long tracks and some midi to see how it works. I think I have used it a total of 30 mins max

I'm just to used to what I use I guess.
