Reaper users, do you think Cockos is taking care of requests on the updates?

That's not freezing, that's just bouncing and muting. If I have a track with lots of plugins and I mute it, the CPU load is still as high, but I froze it, it would drop as it would be like if plugins where not active (at least that's how it worked in Cubase sx3)

In reaper, muting a track stops the plugins from taking any processing power. At least, thats how I think it works.

Yup, I'm pretty certain that's the case - and if not, you can just click the little green dot next to the FX button on each track to turn it red and disable all the plugins on that track with one click :)

Really? Hmm, I remember trying that and seeing no performance change. So I'm probably retarded, gonna give it another try. I thought that the green/red FX button was to bypass all FX.

What do you guys use that needs so much freezing? After I´ve changed my CPU to a Core2Quad I´ve never had to freeze a single track, and I get pretty intensive on the heavy plugins and VSTis

I´m testing Reaper here and so far I´m actually liking it. First things that called my atention were the dock feature, the virtual midi keyboard and the no distinction between audio and midi tracks.
What is annoying me the most is how numerically changing the cursor and markers. On Nuendo I can just click above or below the unit and it changes while on Reaper I have to rewrite the whole position.

Anyone here having slow rendering speeds? I am rendering 4 guitar tracks (each with TSS + x30 + amp sim routed to a bus with EQ + delay), a bass stem and a drums stem and it's going at 0,8x offline...
