It's only logical that the less turns, the less the chances of sliping for the method I've shown. On my Schecter with a TOM I give about 2 inches before I wrap but I use very heavy strings for normal BEADgbe.
Edit: Hey Marcus, just seen your picture. On my Schecter I would usually put some heatshrink tube the side of the Tune-O-Matic (to mute and also protect) but your foam piece is a pretty handy thing, thanks for that, will do.
