Heaven and Hell- Bible Black

1.) They don't want people to expect them to play Ozzy tunes because they're beyond clear that they won't.

2.) Potential legal issues between the H&H boyz and the Ozzy/Sharon enterprise. Best to just stay away from that train wreck.

I'd also like to add that the original Sabbath (up until and including Sabotage) owned all!

Yeah, I believe mainly because the Iommi/Ozzy/Geezer/Ward Sabbath line-up is still active (on the live front at least), so as not to confuse the two. Iommi owns the 'Black Sabbath' name so he could use it if he really wanted (that's why we have that horrible Seventh Star album).

I agree that the first six Sabbath albums are timeless but Ozzy just can't cut it these days live - especially compared to Dio.

I don't think the original line-up is still active. If that were the case, H&H wouldn't be happening. Iommi and Geezer would definitely NOT be doing both. Way to many conflicts of interest. As far as Seventh Star, Iommi actually did not want to call it "Black Sabbath". This was a record company decision for more sales, hence the title Black Sabbath: featuring Tony Iommi. Regardless, there's way too much baggage with keeping the Black Sabbath name. And it's a name that has been tossed around with so many line-up changes and bickering, that it needs to be retired.

I do agree that Dio blows Ozzy out of the water in vocal skills now. It's a shame that Sharon has turned Ozzy into a second rate comedian, and it is impossible to take the guy seriously now.

Honestly, wasn't the vast majority of old metal as boring as this? The same riff repeated and repeated...At least this one has a bit of fire. It's no Van Halen but it works for Sabbath's style, I think.

All in all, the Bible Black sounds good. Let's wait and listen :)

The 'original' Sabbath is still active as they trot them out for OzzFest each year and hope poor Oz can last more than a 30 minute set without going into tuneless warbling. And as for Seventh Star, it may have been record company pressure, but it was still Iommi who o.k.-ed it. It isn't a terrible record, but it isn't a Sabbath record.

this blows, i'm not excited for it at all

...this song is just shockingly banal and uninteresting.

That's +1, very much.

I think that a lot of the praise some are giving this has more to do with it being Dio and Iommi and not with the actual song itself. If it were some new band coming up with this song, I have the impression that people would not be so excited about it and would be saying it sucks or something like that.

The attitude seems to be, it is Dio and Iommi so it must be good.

Sabbath hasn't done Ozzfest for a few years now. I think they tried to just before H&H started, but it didn't work out. There's no way Iommi and Geezer would do both, and there's absolutely no way that either Dio or Ozzy/Sharon would have that.

Yes, I know Seventh Star is not a Sabbath album, nor was it supposed to be in the first place. I'm not sure that Iommi had much choice in the matter, as WB were not going to release it unless it had the Sabbath name included somewhere on it.
