Quick points:

- Excellent show last Friday night but short. 90 minutes including solos.
- UBC Thunderbird Arena is far far out of the way.
- Maybe 1500 max attended.
- 1 Spinal Tap moment with the dry ice effect.
- H&H is in fine form.
- Traditional Metal Magic! Took me back 20+ years.
- Loved hearing Follow The Tears live.
- Coheed and Cambria should never go near Maiden's The Trooper ever again.
- Go see it!

Why are metal shows getting shorter? Used to be you could count on two hours.

And if you're going to play only 90 minutes, what's with the solos?

1500 people? Damn, that's not too great. What was the crowd like when they play Vancouver in 2007? In Quebec City, we had 5000. I was hoping that they could add some dates in the Fall for the East Coast and Canada, but with lesser crowds like this, my take is that it won't happen. Really too bad...

About the 90-min set, yes it's short, but that's maybe all a now 67-year old Dio is able to give night after night, which is still real fine.

1500??????????
Wow, I knew this tour was selling poorly, but didn't know it was THAT bad. Tickets for the Chicago show I think are down to like $10.

I am skipping this tour.
I know it's hip now to be "open minded" but C&C have ZERO business being on this tour. Don't give me that bullshit of, "Oh, but they have some metal moments" No H&H / Sabbath fan is interested, period. Sabbath are not in any shape an influence on C&C's sound. This tour will hurt more than help C&C.

I saw the setlist. It is very short, with little surprises for anyone who has seen them.

H&H / Dio / Iommi - I love you guys, but this tour overall is a stinker. It's a crying shame since the new H&H will EASILY be towards the top of my 2009 list.

I wasn't aware that this tour wasn't going over well. :erk: I saw them during the Masters of Metal Tour in Washington D.C. last year and the crowd was impressive. I realize they had three other veteran bands with them, but the low turnout still surprises me a bit. I agree with you though, that Coheed has no business on this tour whatsoever!

The Master of Metal tour in Chicago was poorly attended.
They actually closed off the lawn, just so they could fill in the seats. Quite disturbing, considering how many metal legends were on one bill!!!!!

H&H really screwed the pooch on this tour. No one is talking about this tour whatsoever. The Priest / Whitesnake tour has totally overshadowed this tour.

As I said before, I am not hating on H&H at all.
I love the new album.
I just have to be honest.

It doesn't help that at least for the Chicago Metal Masters and 09 Heaven and Hell tours, they've been on weekdays. That's kept me froim going - driving to the south suburbs or into the city during rush hour is a nightmare and enough for me to skip a lot of concerts that I would consider attending.

I will be going to see Heaven and Hell on the 19th. I hope that they are as good as the last time we went and saw them. I like their new album. Pretty Heavy!!!

Maybe it's just Chicago dude! I'm kidding by the way.

Have you read anywhere how well this tour is actually doing? I wanted to drive to Nashville to see it, but I didn't want to shell out the extra cash.

The tour for the box set was at least two hours long, basically the same set list (minus TDYK trax, of course), but more tunes. So, why would anyone go see them again w/ a shorter show? If you did see them on that tour (I did, and it was awesome!!), you have no real reason to see them on this one, unless you're a fanatic or have plenty of disposable income - so they are pretty likely missing a lot of repeat attendance.

Touring every year just doesn't work for most bands these days, even if it's a big reunion like this one.

Sales for the Albuquerque show must have been pretty bad also!
Got my ticket last week for $10.
Heard this week they are going for even less!

Will be seeing them in Albuquerque on the 14th and again at Red Rocks on the 15th.

Will try and post my thoughts.

Saw them last night here in Phoenix and as usual they kicked ass! I do agree with everyone else though in that the setlist could have been longer, but 1 1/2 hrs is really not too bad. They had the $10 tickets here too, which is what I had and it was totally worth it. When all was said and done it was a pretty good sized crowd though. It seemed like Heaven and Hell was even longer than normal with a super long jam in the middle which was cool. For the $10 tickets you really can't beat it.

It's not just this tour having problems selling tickets. Live Nation hasn't been doing all these no fee and discount ticket promotions for all their shows out of the kindness of their heart.

I'm seeing this show in Boston. Unlike a bunch of people here, I like Coheed and had been wanting to see them.

Yeah, I was there too. At the Priest show last week they were selling H&H tix for $10. Of course, I bought mine when they went on sale, so I had the full $65 version.

I thought the band sounded great. I certainly wouldn't have minded a couple more songs, and I think they could have chosen a bit better from both Dehumanizer and the new one, but those are quibbles. Ronnie was great, Tony still looks like the coolest guy on the planet, and it was a good time.

I though Coheed and Cambria was really good...it seems like they really won the crowd over. Plus there's that hair!

1500? I'm surprized.... Heaven and Hell and Megadeth about sold out San Jose HP Pavillion on their last tour...that has to be about 15,000 - 16,000

Yeah, but H&H / Megadeth was 2 years ago.
That was the first (well, technically 2nd, if you count Dehumanizer) reunion with Dio. It was the first of the "Heaven and Hell" moniker.

Saw in the paper today that cheapest seats are like $7.

Just got in from show. We got the catering for this show so was a long ...day and my toes are tired. But the show was awesome! I've not become to familiar with the new album, but what they played off it was great. I'm always up for some Sabbath. We set them up for a quick meet and greet after the show, and it had been so long since I had seen Dio, I'm pretty sure he has gotten even smaller. I think my 9 year old nephew wears bigger size pants than he does.
