Just wondering, would anyone be up for that? How big were they? I know they had Sasha Paeth and were awesome and all that, but would a Heaven's gate reunion generate as much buzz as the Conception reunion did?

Very cool band. Though I'm not sure how many people would be aware of them other than us over 35's or the younger crowd digging back into the past for some oldschool gems. To me theres something special about all the German power metal of that era though. Just great stuff.

They're not as high-profile of a band... but yeah, that would be awesome to see. Heaven's Gate was at the top of the power metal genre, quality-wise.

I own 4 of their albums, but to me only two of them are really great Hell for Sale is great all the way through, and Living in Hysteria is really great as well. The other 2 i have are Planet E,and mEnergy and both of them are not the same kind of rockin metal as the other two i named kind of crappy. I would love to see it but then again, maybe not really. I mean I'm going to Progpower every year no matter what(well, it would have to be really bad for me not to go,like Dragonforce bad) so if they are booked it would kickass,if not no big miss I think.I would like to see someone like Running Wild though.

I'm guessing that "Sascha Paeth (producer of power-metal greats Angra, Rhapsody, and Kamelot!) and His Heavens Gate Band" would be a bigger draw than "Heavens Gate". Which is to say, no, it would not generate as much buzz as Conception. Part of that is just the time period though, because a significant percentage of Heavens Gate's fanbase has grown old and died since they were around, and that would have also affected Conception if their reunion show happened in 2011 instead of 2005.

I'd like to see 'em though! Just like the bands he produces, Heavens Gate was a unique and classy element of the power metal universe, just with a lot less money behind them!

Heresy!

(Planet E. is one of the best euro power metal albums ever recorded.)

Agreed. Heaven's Gate, along with Scanner, had their own unique take on the power metal genre (especially on their later albums), and both bands never got the acclaim they deserved.

I think it would be awesome to see them at PPUSA.

I also agree that Planet E is a great cd

Don't know how many asses it would put in the seats though, since all of the HG fans are old & dead...... :)
