I think it's official, VH1 is more addicting than crack.
What do you guys think of the documentery VH1 did on metal and it's development? I thought the early parts were excellent.

VH1 Classic is a pretty cool channel. I watched their metal video show tonight and saw Loudness, Scorpions, and Accept all in a row.

I had to admit it, but Def Leppard is better than say, Deeds Of Flesh (and I like both bands).

Metal Mania is unbelievably awesome if you're a fan of 80s metal in general (not just the hair movement). They play some REALLY obscure stuff sometimes and I've caught several videos that I had never seen before back in the day.

As far as HEAVY goes - I think it was pretty good but man o man, how many documentary/coverage pieces can be done on that era of Metal without rehashing the same old stories about the same old struggles/success stories of a fledgling Metal band (Metallica, etc.). I'd like to seen them go balls out and make one of these things for the Metal that wasn't so mainstream.

vh1 did a metal countdown list that mentioned the whole mayhem thing. i think it was metal's 100 most extreme moments.

i only caught bits and pieces of "heavy" but i thought it was ok. i think we all need to accept that we arent going to see black/death metal bands get alot of coverage on tv. and if we did, everyone here would be crying about it, which is a paradox ive never understood

They called Slayer "a death metal machine" once. They made it seem like they were the most underground unheard of band. It was pretty lame.

what?! even though they came out of the 80s, all of those bands have killer musicians and wrote amazing songs. loudness has some brilliant guitar work. scorpions are pioneers, as are accept.
