hellfest 2006 photos

I'm going too, I've been planning this trip eversince I saw the line up :OMG:

Anyway, those stages in that pic, are they standard for hellfest because they look tiny compared to Wacken's stages :hypno:

Well its £47 (70 euros) so saves a few quid (normally 100 euros - £67) and yeah hopefully the toilets will be a bit cleaner.
Apparently Mayhem r now replaced by Enslaved as Mayhem drummer has broken his arm, doesnt matter to me as i dont really care for either band.

I went to Hellfest back in 2004 when it was still called Fury Fest, it was amazing! Since then I've been to Graspop in 2005 and 2006 (which fucking ruled) and am going again this year. Bad mistake because the Hellfest lineup shits all over it this year. Oh well should still be alright, at least I get to see 1349, Belphegor, Celtic Frost and Vader :)

so who went to hellfest ? It was great dispite the rain and mud

I did. I fucking hated the 3-3,5 hour wait on friday, that was horrible. Overall it was decent, a lot of the bands made up for all the crappiness (mediocre sound at best, mudd, lack of public toilets  , no vegitarian food, no single breast flashing chicks  , bars running out of beer on the first day, rain coming back on sunday during neurosis, type o negative not having a good day, the horrible sound of atheist during their last ever gig :waah:)

But yeah it was decent, won't be back next year though :p

no single breast flashing chicks
There has been during Type O Negative !!! ;)
Hellfest (or should I say Mudfest as Lee told me there) was incredible:
- for its terrible terrible organisation (worst ever seen)
- for its amazing bill and fantastic shows.

I would say my top 5 has been Megadeth, Slayer, Emperor, Machine Head, Dark Tranquillity.
Then there's the Jury special price for years of hoping to see and happiness to finally witness : Cynic and Atheist

My favorites were Cynic, Emperor, 1349, Type O (even with the shitty stuff I enjoyed it thoroughly), Immortal (goddamn that electricity pop during those intros were horrible, it killed my boner), Enslaved and a couple others

WetFest !

terrible organization ! No entrance check at the camping park saturday and sunday. I´m yet to know where were the camping park toilets. Inside the fest there was one ! plastic toilet...poor girls. Comparing to 2006, it was mediocre production-wise.

I enjoyed aborted, behemoth, walls of jericho, neurosis, converge, well....most of the bands at the gibson stage. Great sound when compared to the main stage.

I went and completely agree with what others have said.
organisation was awful, as was food.
Waiting around for hours to get in on the friday was hell and then to top it off Lamb Of God didnt get to play because generator for main stage blew up!
sound was dodgy on main stage for at least half of the bands, but pretty good on gibson stage.
Small beers was annoying but on the sunday they started doing bigger beers in vip.
Most impressive bands for me were Megadeth, Dream Theatre, Immortal, Neurosis and Mumakil (because i wasnt expecting much from these bands but they were great).
Other good bands included Behemoth, Aborted, Hatebreed, Slayer, Bodom, Blind Guardian, Unearth and Dark Tranquility (but i've seen these before so knew they would be good).
Type o and Mastadon were rubbish and Machine head, chimaira, cynic and athiest suffered from iffy sound.
Also was it just me or did one of the athiest guitarists have his amp stuck on its clean channel? sounded awful, especially on solos, good job it wasnt their last ever gig and filmed for a dvd, whoops IT WAS!!!!

after he mentioned it, i thought the crowd was a bit too small for the footage to be worth it

and brett i saw you around the festival a couple times!
at the front of cynic with your vintage t-shirt
and leaving within temptation, still sporting the cynic cap

Man you should have come to me, we'd have had a beer!!! The Cynic cap is on my head forever now :D
Yes, the left guitar player sounds was definately clean, but it seemed to be mixed with some distortion as well, like if there was a DI and the amp mixed in together but the DI being way too loud. Very weird... But in some parts, it sounded pretty much like on the albums... Oh well... EDIT : By the way I'm talking about Atheist

i couldnt hear paul at all, guitar or vocals from where i was standing, which was in the center quite close to the front
could anyone hear paul?? from who ive talked to, no one could very well
