Help me, please

Hey guys,

I urgently need to get a word explained. Afterwards this thread may be deleted.

I just cannot cope with the word "rube". It is used in the song "Nightmares by the Sea" within the context: "Your rube is young and handsome...". I am from Germany so it would be nice if you could paraphrase it or give me a synonym.

I´d be really grateful if you could help me.

My Langenscheidt dictionary says "(Bauern) Trottel" ... guess that can't be the right meaning.
I also wondered what it means ... I remember I once found a meaning that would make sense but I can't remember at all what it was... sorry :/

always got me too. i think 'rubes' is some sort of 20's slang or something meaning 'clothes'
