Hello!

Just installed an EMG81 into my guitar. Used the first and easiest soldering diagram in the manual using just the volume-pot and no tone-controlls and only one pickup (first diagram in the list).

http://www.emginc.com/downloads/wiri...MG-Hseries.pdf

I've doublechecked the diagram connections and all my soldering with a multimeter to be ok.

If I touch the pickup there is a "hum" sound, pretty loud. Same if I touch the volume-pot chasing. If I touch the outputjack at the same time the "hum" is dramatically reduced but not gone. I also tried connecting another EMG81 pickup but that did not solve the problem, so its not a faulty pickup.

Any idea of how to fix this, i'm in the middle of a studio recording so....

re-install the damn thing. you might have some cold solderings

Check all your cables, emg's rarely have any issues with grounding unless you've got a bad solder joint or something, so check all your cables to your amp etc etc, then if that isn't the problem, then definately rewire it.
