The bigger Deadtide.com gets, the more stuff labels send us, and it's getting to a point where the seven of us won't be able to keep up anymore. To prepare for that, we're looking for some fresh blood to help us with reviews and interviews.

In general, we're looking for honest people who are passionate about metal, know how to write, and have educated insight to offer. Specifically, we have immediate need for two types of writers:

REVIEWERS
Right now, we could really use writers to cover the following genres:

Power Metal (if you're a fan, we will make you VERY happy!)
Hardcore/Metalcore (ie: Trustkill, Victory, Lifeforce, etc.)
Underground death metal (ie: not Six Feet Under)
Underground black metal (ie: not Cradle of Filth)

We can always use folks who like other shades of heavy, but those are the kinds of releases that seem to be piling up lately.

INTERVIEWERS
We're also looking for people to interview bands in person and by phone, IM or Email. We'll take care of the logistics (setting up appointments, acquiring passes to shows, etc.), and you'll handle the questions and transcription. If you like to meet new people and talk metal, it's a lot of fun.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST:

• be 18 or older
• be HONEST (ripoffs and slackers will be hunted down and gutted like fish)
• be capable of forming both coherent thoughts and complete sentences
• have a firm grasp of both the English language and grammar
• have a sense of humor, but take their writing seriously
• have a reliable computer and know how to use it
• have a reliable web connection
• have both a permanent Email and mailing address
• not have an attitude of ANY kind (no elitists, no chauvinists, no racists, no nazis, no assholes)

If you're interested in either position and meet the criteria, please contact Jason at jason@deadtide.com and be prepared to submit three reviews and/or interviews for consideration. If selected, you won't get paid, but you will get free CDs, passes to shows, various other goodies, and a chance to see your name in pixels.

Hope to hear from you!

hey why do I have to be 18 in order to do this? I'm 15, but I have a vast grasp of the English language and I can assure you my grammar is top-notch. I am heavily passionate about metal of any kinds. I am particularly interested in Melodic Death Metal, but I love all kinds. Power metal is also one of my favorites. I have an extreme interest in Journalism for the future, alo. If you want me to write reviews, I am available at thatguitarguy@satx.rr.com.

I'll show you that 3 years hardly makes a difference in writing ability.

I have read a few of the reviews on your site, and I have to admit something. I know myself better than anyone, and I am sure I could write better reviews than 60% of what I've read so far. I'm not saying this to be cocky, it's just that most people have a low opinion of my age group. If you have to be 18 because of legal standards, then I understand. However, if it is for personal reasons, I think that is unfair.

I've looked at the two In Flames reviews which I think are extremely biased (more so on the R2R review) becuse of the opinions about In Flames' vocal approach. Clearly that is bias. I realize that you cannot be completely unbiased, because it is impossible, but quotes such as:

If In Flames continues along this freshly-forged path, they will need to clean up clumsier, less focused songs like "System," and "Black & White," obliterate anything resembling "Metaphor,"
are entirely unnecessary. The reviewer's own opinion on what songs should be eliminated from the cd should be omitted. I briefly checked over the newest reviews on Stratovarius, Graveworm, etc. also. I believe I can write reviews just as good as some of those reviewers, so if you're willing to give me a try, I could submit 3 reviews as you asked. By any chance would you be needing reviews of some older In Flames cds or Blinded By Faith? possibly some Borknagar or Immortal Souls?

I have these metal albums along with various mp3 cds on the side:

Borknagar - Quintessence
Throcult - Soldiers of a Blackened War
Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse, Prometheus: Discipline of Fire and Demise
Old Man's Child - In Defiance of Existence
Cradle of Filth - Damnation and A Day, Midian, Dusk... And Her Embrace
Blinded By Faith - Veiled Hideousness, Under An Occult Sun
Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin
Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing, self-titled
Children of Bodom - Hatebreeder, Follow The Reaper,
Fear Factory - Demanufacture, Digimortal
Naglfar - Ex Infernis, Sheol, Diabolical
Graveworm - Engraved in Black, Scourge of Malice
Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
Immortal Souls - Ice Upon The Night
Crimson Moonlight - The Covenant Process
Limbonic Art - Ad Noctum/Dynasty of Death
Dimmu Borgir - Death Cult Armageddon, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I, Haven, Damage Done
In Flames - Lunar Strain, Subterranean, Black-Ash Inheritance, Whoracle, Clayman, Colony, The Jester Race, Reroute To Remain, Trigger EP

I think that's it, haven't checked the big cd case in a few days. (I have 3 cd cases worth of cds)
