Hey guys, I'm new here and have been recording for a couple years yet seem to be a complete noob after lurking on this forum for a while.
My band is called Armorial. We are deathcore, but the cover we have uploaded is more metalcore/hardcore if anything. It's a gorillaz cover of the song Stylo. There is also another track called "Escape" but it's old. Check it out:http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=192915180729273#!/pages/Armorial/126162910766430
i recorded on cubase with:
Guitar rig 3 preset(badass preset I made) quadtracked.

Steven slate drums

1. Could anyone comment on my tone?

2. I have no idea on how to record vocals. I seem to slap a heap of effects on without really knowing what I'm doing. Help?

I like the guitar tone.

For the vocals, always track two takes of vocals and layer them. Everyone does that, as far as I know, who insist on making the vocals sound good in a mix.
Also, less verb on the vocals than what's on "Escape" would sound best, IMO.

As far as I know, have both centered and layered.
You can mess around though. I wouldn't personally pan either vocal track more than 50% in their respective directions. But you might get a bit more harmonization in the vocals if you pan them each 10-30%. Just try messing around with the sounds and go by what sounds best.
