hell-o
i've been working on one of our new tracks for quite a while now, problem is, that i've (un)fortunately had alot to do the last couple of weeks, and i could only work "between work" for one hour or two, or late at night and with cans on my own tune.
that hughe period of time working on it made me absolutely blind towards that song.
so i'd really like to hear your opinion and comments on it.

here it is:

Subcutane - Darker than black

Thanks alot

the sound is pretty thick. i like the guitar tone. the vocals could be a smidge louder. the drums are sloppy in parts and could use some work. The snare is too quiet and its a little dry for my taste. I like it though.

do you mean played sloppy?
yepp, the snare is a problem, it's got some problems to cut thru the guitars, esp. the reverb.

i tried different reverbs (in cubase) like truverbm IR but it seems i can't find a suiting reverb for this one. any recommendations?

timing issues with the drums. they could be tighter in parts.

guess you're right:)
prob is, that the drums are ok with the click and i played my guitars with to click, too, but without hearing the drums.
separately both of them go pretty well to the click, but not really perfect to each other;)

C'mon...need your feedback!! ;)

Thanks

Did you re-record the guitars? They sound great :) (they weren't really bad in the previous clip actually)

c'mon guys, i really want to improve my mixing/mastering, please give me some hints!! :Smokin:

it's gotta be professional sounding! could i put this as a reference on my page, or is it not good enough? what could i do to improve the overall sound?

thanks

this doesnt have much to do with the actual mix itself and i dunno if its just me but the song seems like its a fast song..played kinda slow

the guitar and vox sound great, but the drums sound to machanical (are they programed?) It just seems they need more cymbal work like crashes and such or more overhead or room in the mix. but other than that i think it sounds very good man.

thanks, just working on a slightly different mix with more overheads, perhaps that'll help.
gonna post an update here as soon as i've got it finished.....would like to hear you opinion again, then.

thx
