Hephystus - Malice In Wonderland

Ya know guys, bands can do a lot of changing in three years time. Though I'm sure if they're like a few other people on the forum they probably took your 'advice' as more destructive than constructive. You don't exactly have the best way of saying things the way you want your words to actually mean...despite any well-mannered intentions you might have had.

And before a big pissing contests starts, I don't mean any of this as a 'you suck' thing...its just an observation of how your communication seems to come across at times.

NOTE: not attempting to start pissing contest.

Sorry you think that how i behave professionally is how it is perceived on this board. The drummer and I actually spoke today for an hour on AIM and he laughed when i mentioned about the CD and ProgPower. his comment? "We were kids and didn't know what we were doing." what i was offering to do back then was to help pass out their album to all the vendors (everyone i am good friends with already) in hopes to get them some distribution, which they desperately needed and kind of still do.

Despite what people think about me on here (which people know very little of what i do) I have done a tremendous amount of work for the NC metal scene during the 12 years running my record label(s). Naturally, not in the prog world simply because we don't have too many prog bands rolling around up here.

the band's careers i helped to start speaks for itself so when i actually try and extend help to bands i do it because i like them and just maybe i think they have something special going on, which judging by this thread about Hephystus right now i was correct all those years ago. i do have an ear for talent. ;)

he wanted me to pass along they have 12 new song written and begin recording them very soon. the 2 new demos are really good. so that is the update.

Hey I've seen/heard the work you do and major kudos. Im not attempting to call you out or anything and I'm certainly not saying you're bad at business either. I just wonder if bands sometime get a bad first impression and immediately form an opinion or take help the wrong way.

Based on your conversation with Troy my point was driven home about bands maturing or changing over time, but to me it was hard to imagine that we were even talking about the same band based on what you guys were describing.

Nothing personal, after all I approached you this past year about digging the new tune I heard.

YES!! These guys completely kicked ass on Saturday night!! Their performance was tight and very lively! They are also extremely nice guys and I had a great time talking and hanging out with them. And to re-iterate what Su said, the keyboardist has only been in the band for two months and you would've thought he was an original member judging by his performance - musically and showmanship. Keep an eye out for these guys!

Indeed.
I myself have done quite a bit for several NC bands regardless if we put out their release; has I said taking the CD down there and passing it on. Several NC bands I have helped on to shows etc where in all honbesty I would get more thanks and appreciation from them than some of the label bands. I'll never forget Viper and Crescent saying to me after a show "wow we have never been paid for a show before" after both got a few hundreds dropped in their hand. Sure I have not found BTBAM but the race isn't over yet:)
I'm sure the guys in question have grown a bit after all that was a few years ago.
As for a band's first impression personally I don't care what they think. The ones who understand will respect as for the others they are a waste of time.

I've been friends with the guys in this band for a while now, I've seen them live 30+ times and I know they definitely appreciate the exposure. From what I heard the show last weekend was one of the best they've had and I know they appreciate you guys listening. \m/

Alright Alright jeez member of the band hereeeee...first and foremost...we ARE entering the studio next month to lay down 12-14 new tracks depending how much we can get done of all new material. The first CD was a dual release. We have grown and matured a lot both on and off stage and continue to do so as any band should with time. No one can ever know too much. However, Jeremy.....you told us to our face AFTER you asking us to put you on our guest list which we did...that you had the perfect lead singer for our band....I think we were maybe 6-8 months into being in existence at that point. You DON'T do that. We did NOT come from a Hardcore background and were not trying to target a hardcore audience. We are very excited about the new material and we feel very strongly about it. Our new keyboard player has allowed us to dive into a part of writing that we have never been able to tap into...be prepared for a heavier, more melodic, and more progressive Hephystus on this next record \m/:rock:

The suggest of the singer was Chris Parrish, and the singer/guitarist I was speaking to at the time (be that you if it said) actually said that the band had been considering a singer. So my suggestion wasn't actually rude or as assholish it you might make it sounds, it was merely a suggestion. And I think it would have worked out nicely. It was also explain that the band was from that background I'm not in a habit of making things up.
Look honestly I don't give a fuck either, thought you were/are a good band and that is that.

When Hephystus took the stage and went into the first song all I could think was "Holy shit, these guys are amazing!" They have ridiculous stage presence and energy. I keep thinking "WHEN WILL I SEE THEM AGAIN?!?" Seriously, they were frickin awesome.

I just hope the bassist forgives me for messing with him xD

And VIVA JIM!

what band DOES take outside advice or criticism well? let me know when you find one. hahaha.

My band.

of course then again, as I said, I personally have learned a lot since my last band so if we were to assume Centralia was my first band it might be a little harder to accept the criticism.

I'll be sure to send you a copy of the 'really grossly rough demo' so you can chop us up and grill us for good measure before turning us into a delicious band.

And to return to the main mammajamma - Hephystus deserves to get on board with something huge. I know they have what it takes.
