well, the guitarist wanted an oldschool tone, therest modern tones...this is the compromise and I gotta say I actually really like it.
More than a tad IMO - sounds like when I have a good tone and then roll off my volume knob like halfway!
Fucking amazing kick and snare though Lasse, though I think the chick just sounds goofy when she screams (like a barking dog 
). Also, I think the guitars have a bit of them wooly low mids that make the mix feel a bit stuffy to my ears. And actually, the kick might be just a bit too clicky.

Listening again though, the guitars have a really cool kinda crunch that I dig (was this by any chance the JSX crunch channel?), despite the lack of saturation IMO.

Well in the "SH18 soundtest," aren't you using a different amp? Either way, that one definitely sounds higher gain to me, but also you're not playing riffs with as much palm muting as the big offender in this one, that Egyptian-sounding riff with the echoing spoken AM-radio female vox at 1:15 (that's where the low gain is really apparent to me). And I didn't listen to the "Snare tones" one, lemme check that out...
Ok, listening to the "defiled-ruff" track from the snaretones thread, this tone also has that undergained feel; it's not as obvious because there aren't as many sparse palm-muted riffs like the Egyptian one I mentioned above, but still, I can hear it. And MAN do I not like this singer, seriously giving me a headache...
