here's the final version..have a listen

I really liked the vox so I might have them a bit higher but either way I still dug the track bro

thanks!
manily i used my custommande anvil pre
anvil.jpg

thru mesa simul295 into engl 4x12 cab.
mixed with 808 modded ts9--> mesa recto pre thru same setup.

miced with sm57 and m160 ribbon (ribbon mics are KILLER for guitar (and everything else!!!)) m160 only blended slightly into it (like 25dB lower) just to round of the Bass and smooth out the top.

the channel i used on the anvil is basically an improved soldano SLO-clone with higher quality parts and some modifications i demanded (tighter bass (don't need a ts or similar) and more gain).

settings were like:
anvil: (no ts on that)
gain 13:00
bass 11:30
mid 10:00
treb 9:Ö00
hicut 15:00

Ts:
dist 7:00
tone 9:30
levl 13:

recto:
gain : 12:00
treb 12:00
mid 9:00
Bass 11:00
pres 12:00

2tracks of anvil 100L/R
2 Tracks of recto 80% L/R (about 6dB lower)

Guitar was Robin medley ash body Emg 85
2163.jpg

(i LOVE that guitar!!!)

and ESP m1 ctm with emg81

Very nice work. What kind of toms/skins/mics were being used?

-0z-
it's a rocketshells corbon-kit unfortunately it'd been old heads on it, almost looking like the surface of the moon, i had a hard time tuning those to sound good ;)
miced with audix d1 and d2 (only top head) i created some samples that can be found in the "share a sample" thread (there's a pic of the kit, too).
snare was sm57 top and bottom, gated with triggers--sidechain.
kick is sampled.

i use to rent that kit from time to time from the local musicstore, 'cause it's the best sounding kit i've ever recorded, unfortunately it's about 8000€ :zombie:
so i have to deal with the old heads, 'cause i obviously don't want to pay the new heads every time i rent it ;)

Thanks.
vox have been recorded with an old sm-7 through an spl goldmike (love that for vox!!) with "flair" (pres boost) on.
eq-wise there's very little, his vox is a little bit on the nasal side, so i reduced 1-3dB at 500Hz with a medium Q and 2-3 dB@ 1k with a very narrow Q. slight 1-2 dB boost at about 6k and HP from 80Hz or so.
then Comp with approx. attack 5ms on grunt and back, 10ms on leadsinging, release 100-150ms 3:1 ratio and about 6dB max gain reduction.

then a little bit reverb (medium plate) and delay (16th, matching songs tempo)

that's basically it i think.

toms...see above.
