Hi everyone i recently finished building a james hetfield snakebyte guitar with a custom inlay. I copied all his specs perfectly and even put in his het set active pickups.
I have been recording in ableton live 9 lite through a focusrite solo with a amplitube 4 plugin. I have struggled to achieve metallicas tone. I have tried recording through a dynamic mic in front of speaker in all different positions.
After alot of frustration i plugged in my gibson les paul studio with passive pick ups and straigjt away the tone was almost perfect. Is it something to do with active and passive pickup? Do i need a di box or does the focusrite have one?
I am using the hetset pickups witj mesa boogie head and cabinet plugins and it just sounds a bit fuzzy. Lacking tightness if that makes any sense.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
