What if Barney the Dinosaur went metal? Well, it would go something like Hevisaurus:

My nine-month old nephew was banging his head like a champ listening to this. I can't believe they even created metal for the young ones.:Smokin:

That has been mentioned on here a while back. I agree, this is very cool. Heck - why do you think great metal comes from Finland? Start teaching them as young children that heavy metal is cool. They grow up knowing it's cool and eventually some of them will become musicians. I see it as a form of brainwashing  but what a great way to develop and nurture aspiring metal musicians? :)

Beats the POS rap and pop crap we see here in the US.

^^^^ Don't remember seeing it, that's why I posted it. Now, I wish they would do an album in English. My nephew would be so grateful. :D

Hevisaurus is awesome, now THIS is cool kids stuff...it doesnt talk down to kids(barney), doesnt act like kids are stupid (barney), and is just a hell of a lot cooler than purple dinosaurs. What i think is cool, the costumes are designed so that the musicians can actually play music. It's real stuff, that impressed me the most. It's not some fake pre-recorded stuff and guys pretending to shred. It's real. Hats off to Finland for the good stuff for kiddies.

Finland seems to have a very large metal culture...with this they can feed kids with metal, they will grow up, play metal and who knows become the next hit. Take Rony Osterlund for example, great kid. He is a very well known metalhead, 6 years old, just started kindergarten...he's growing up with metal....his toys? guitar...drums...he knows every freaking song out there, he's met everybody who's everybody....he's cuter than hell. He's gonna go far in the industry if he chooses to stay with it.

This naturally is my fave pic of Rony, he's awesome!!

Actually, a recent news story said that a Hungarian version of the band was in the works. I doubt that this version of Hevisaurus would do an English album, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that an American version of the band might be created. If a Hungarian version has the creators' blessing, can't see why they'd object to an American version, unless they wanted to do an English-language album and tour themselves.

I think I'm one of the only ones on the forum to say that they've actually seen this band live. It was really fun to watch unless you're the type to take everything way too seriously.

Seeing people wall of death during a ballad by this band is a memory I will treasure forever.

Hevisaurus is the brainchild of drummer Mirka Rantanen (Thunderstone) who got the idea of making genuine powermetal songs with meaningful lyrcis for children. Even though Hevisaurus members don't reveal their real names nor faces they are rumoured to connect tightly to people in and around the band Thunderstone.

Happens so that the second album "Hirmuliskojen yö" ( ~ Night of Mighty Lizards) by Hevisaurus will be released in Finland tomorrow Sept 15. through RCA/Sony Music Entertainment. (It's available at RecordshopX)
The CD consists of 15 tracks with Finnish lyrics. Besides the band, appearing on the record are familiar names like Perttu Kivilaakso (Apocalyptica), Janne Wirman (Children Of Bodom, Warmen, Kotipelto), Antti "Hyrde" Hyyrynen (ex Stam1na), Emerson Burton (HIM), Elias Viljanen (Sonata Arctica) and Nino Laurenne (Thunderstone).
