its getting closer to THE SHIELD. cant wait for that show to get going again. i told the wife for XMAS to buy me the series each year til it ends. then i can watch them all over again

Yeah, I'd like to get Season 1. I hope my husband is smart this year. :D

Season 2 comes out the same day Season 3 starts.

Have you read anything about Season 3 yet? I can post some if you want. They're somehow going to make it more interesting than before, with more close calls for Vic, a love intereste for Shane and Claudette becomes captain.

havent heard anything except that Claudette becomes captain but you saw that coming towards the end. i would like to hear some. go ahead & post some here. i let about 5 or 6 people borrow it & they returned it like a day or 2 later & i asked why they didnt watch & they said they did. they couldnt wait to see what happened next so they had to throw in the next disc. 1 guy thought it was an HBO series lol

First of all, the cover to the season 2 DVD set is gay. It has the skyline of (I'm guessing) LA. When do they do anything anywhere near a skyline? Okay, so a crackhouse isn't visually appealing, but still.

The preview, if you haven't seen it already is at:

Looks like Vic gets pretty paranoid. Not that he doesn't have enough reasons to get paranoid or anything. :)

The site I got the information from has since taken it down and I can't really find anymore, except "rumor". Another thing I remember reading, though, is that Matthew's new teacher becomes Corinne's new love interest. Vic will take that well, won't he?

One of the rumors I read this morning is that Aceveda is going to blackmail Vic to get some of the cash from the money train, which would make things interesting, Aceveda being Mr. Politician himself, and Vic won't take blackmailing well.

And one of my favorite episodes was on last night: the one where the Navigator gets stolen while Shane's getting laid. It's one of my favorites, just for Lem yelling, "She's not even that hot, man!!"

LOS ANGELES
Gang Graffiti in TV Show Raises Anger
Producers of 'The Shield' shoot a scene using painted names that some Lincoln Heights residents fear could prompt violence.

By Jose Cardenas, Times Staff Writer

A TV police drama that filmed a scene in Lincoln Heights featuring graffiti with the name of a real gang and the moniker of one of its members has infuriated residents, who are demanding that the scene not be included in the upcoming episode.

The graffiti on the front of a house was primarily painted by a production company artist, who inadvertently allowed a man police say is a gang member to add his moniker, said Scott Brazil, executive producer of "The Shield."

When the production company working under contract with Fox Television Studios left the neighborhood Monday, it left the graffiti, because the homeowner said he would clean it up himself, Brazil said. A painter covered the graffiti on Thursday.

Fearing that the graffiti could lead to violence and glorify the gang on national television, some residents said they have written letters to Fox to keep the graffiti scene out.

"That somebody could come from the outside and glamorize such a dangerous problem and then leave is fundamentally hurtful and puts some very wonderful people at risk," said June Aiello, executive director of the nearby Boys & Girls Club, which is leading the protest.

The scene also would counter community groups working to keep kids out of gangs, some residents said.

"I hope they don't use that scene," said Los Angeles City Councilman Ed Reyes, whose district includes Lincoln Heights. "We have parents involved in anti-gang activity and here they are painting houses to make it worse."

The show's producers said the artist who painted the graffiti thought she was simply painting the name of a street on the house, not knowing it was also the name of a neighborhood gang. She was also unaware that the man she allowed to add his moniker to the work was a gang member.

"My sensitivity to this issue is heightened incredibly," Brazil said. "It was never our intention to somehow glorify a local gang."

Brazil said he did not know yet how the graffiti scene would be handled, but "both production and studio will be very sensitive in editing the piece."

In the neighborhood where the filming occurred, two gangs have long been involved in turf wars that have resulted in numerous murders since the 1970s, said Officer Austin Fernald of the Los Angeles Police Department.

He said residents' fears that the graffiti could lead to violence are justified in light of recent warfare between the gang whose named appeared in the graffiti scene and its main rival.

"When [nearby gangs] see things like this … it gets them amped up and excited to be more aggressive," Fernald said.

That was the backdrop to residents' reactions when they saw the graffiti after filming had wrapped up.

"Any time there is more graffiti that goes up, inevitably there's a shooting that follows," said Ana Gallegos, one of the residents involved in the letter-writing campaign.

"The Shield" is an Emmy- and Golden Globe award-winning show that will be entering its third season on the FX cable network next year. The scene in question was supposed to take place in front of a home where a gang member might live, Brazil said.

Okay, so I found a bunch more. I had to join the forums to get this info. But it's what I was talking about before.

New Characters(SPOILERS!!!!)

* Mara Sewell: The attractive new girlfriend of Shane (Walton Goggins), she's in her late 20s. Described as very charming and ambitious in a “wanting -to-make-up-for-a-bad-child hood way,” Sewell is very affectionate towards Shane. About to get her real estate license, she has secured Shane's promise to give her the down payment for a pre-owned Lexus, which she believes is a necessary status symbol for her job. She's angry when he goes back on his word for reasons of his own, but is all smiles and kisses when he winds up buying her the car. Listed as a Caucasian or mixed ethnicity character, there is the possibility that there may be some nudity necessary for the part.

* Tommy Hisk: An old school cop who's partnered with Julien (Michael Jace), he has been hearing some of the bad gossip that has been circulating on his new partner. Disgusted with Julien's performance with him on a routine domestic disturbance, Hisk makes no secret of his contempt for Shane and is outwardly dismissive of him. Producers are looking for someone who has some comedic ability and “authentically feel like a cop.”

* Owen Thigpen: Artsy and serious, he's a behavioral therapist who's working (very successfully) with Vic's son Matthew (Joel Rosenthal). He seems very dedicated to his job, chatting with both Vic and his estranged wife Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan).after each session. They’re casting this mid-30s Caucasian character as the polar opposite of Vic Mackey and have eyed this character as a potential love interest for Corrine.

* Willem Quigley: In his 30s, Quigley is a Young Turk on the rise. He's with the Treasury Department, and been following the Armenian money laundering scam. Made aware that Dutch and Claudette are working on the same case, he’s what comes when the pair request Federal help. Bright, articulate and “very willing to be helpful” (obviously, since it will benefit him as well to solve this case), Quigley eventually finds that his hands are tied when none of the principals in the case – including the Greek government – will cooperate. This character is described as “offbeat for a Fed guy,” finding creativity in his job, and should be a credible threat to the Strike Team. The character is also supposed to be “fun at the same time.”

* Jesse: This Latino character has been knocked unconscious when a truck he's driving full of ammunition is sideswiped in a chase and the bullets start firing after his lit cigarette ignites them. Later, under questioning, it's revealed that Jesse, an out of work concrete mixer in his 40s, is the father of a notorious gang leader, though he denies his son had anything to do with a van full of stolen ammunition. The producers are looking for someone who can speak fluent Spanish.

* Diagur: In his late teens, Jesse's son is a street punk and one of the leaders of a local gang called the Byz Lats. Full of attitude, he refuses to cooperate with Vic when questioned about arming his crew. He’s thrust into a leadership position early on and should be a major part of the third season.

* The character of Deena Klein from the first season episode "Blowback" will be returning for two more episodes in season 3. She was the girl who stole the Strike Teams truck.
