Hey Guggs... Beyond the Embrace "Insect Song"

I haven't yet, unless it's one of the songs they began playing live during 2003. Have you heard it? Any good?
Insect Song is the title of the new album...look see:

Ok, I didn't know they had come up with a name for the new record yet.

The new song they played at each of the 4 shows I saw them in '03 sounded almost exactly like Black Album-era Metallica, so that must be it. It was untitled last year though, so I have no idea the name of the song. I'm hoping that song wasn't representative of the direction of the entire disc.

That sucks.

Indded it does. Have you heard it yet? If so, what is your opinion. It MIGHT grow on me after a few spins but currently it sounds pretty derivative of Metallica's Black album, just a bit more thrashy with more melo leads, as was said before. There a few tracks that do elaborate more on their creativity but still, it sounds really bland. It is nothing that immediately catches the ear.

You know what. I think I have discovered what the fucking problem is. Okay, this cd is actually pretty damn good BUT the production, done by the dude from Unearth, is absolutely Horrible!!

I have a very strong feeling that is this album was produced differently, it would sound 57 times better.

On the subject of the album, I don't know man, I've listened to it through about 4 times now...

It's fucking good, really good. I am biased, but this is good, period. Also, what's your beef with the production? It's pretty damned clean IMO; certainly better than the debut. Definitely a more polished album, so it's lacking the raw charm of the debut, but a more than worthwhile sophomore effort.

I'll have to listen to it again but from what I remember, the guitar trio sounds really muddy. I know it's a tough task but it could have been a lot better. Also, Shawn's vocals are mixed waay to high in the mix. Just my opinion.

Oh ya...it is also WAY too trebly.

See, I actually thought the guitars were way out front. Shawn's vox are definitely high in the mix as well, perhaps slightly too high as you point out.

Most importantly though, the songs are quite good!
