Hi,

Title says it all. The gateway band was Hatebreed. I have a friend who shares videos. One day it was Hatebreed and I discovered I need these sounds in my life. I still enjoy other genres, make of that what you will. Still discovering what I like in metal and what I don't.

My parakeet happily chirps along. That is just as surprising to me as finding myself liking metal. I thought she would shrill about it, but, no.

There is...alot of information. Alot of subgenres. It's kind of overwhelming, actually. Yikes, where to start!

Start wherever you like. If you like Hatebreed, theres tons of bands along their sound (metalcore.) Whats some other stuff you are into? Are you comfortable jumping straight into sub genres? Theres tons of forums and stuff to check out here!

I am partial to the Hatebreed sound, even though it is simple and somewhat homogeneous. Maybe that's part of what made it a friendly spot to jump in. I like All Out War, and Tragedy. I am going to check out Type O Negative, Amon Amoth, and Gwar. That's about it, I really am new to this.

Ah, I've heard of all these bands except Dio and Death. Of these specific examples I most liked Black Sabbath, Metallica, and the Megadeth. The others were fine, although I didn't appreciate the vocals on the Slayer and Death examples, but I liked the music. Since most of them are big enough names that even I had heard of them, that makes them classics. Sort of, so seems like I alllllmost have to explore their stuff.

Thanks!
