Wheez...What do you think about this whole Cutler replacing The Snake deal going on over in your neck of the woods??

I'm not hearing too much about it over here at all...Is this something Shanahan was forced to do???? Or is it truly the best move..What's your take?

It's a change. I think they needed some sort of change but I don't think this is the right one. There's not one part of the team that's doing their job right now and Plummer's taking the fall for the whole. It could provide a spark. The kid was going to be in there starting next year anyway so I guess this isn't that early.

Looks like your Pats are on a roll. Cool for you! :kickass:

I agree and disagree. Teams go up and down. Often, the team that wins the Superbowl is the team that is hot entering the play-offs. I think the talent is there with Denver, despite the record and they could contend even as a wildcard. Throwing a rookie in and letting him get his lumps in this late in the season is a death wish.
Shanahan is a very good coach and I can't argue with his success, but he has made some bumblehead decisions IMO much like his counterpart in Pittsburgh, Bill Cowher. I think this one is has about a 75% chance of blowing up in his face. Plummer, may be known as a choke artist, but he really has been responsible for few Bronco losses in his career with Denver.

Another question is who will be coaching Alabama ? Even though the American football fans in this forum seem to be geared more toward Pro ball etc. etc..... we are talking about the mighty Alabama. There are nine national championships in their repertoire. This si a big deal in the football world.

I agree with both you and Bryant...I don't think December is the right time to start a guy who's never played a down in the NFL unless you absolutley have to!!!(And by that I mean season ending injury for your starter) This is the time for teams to be making that final playoff push for seeding, possible bye weeks, hosting a wildcard game, etc...

I think this is a case where Shanahan has caved in to public pressure..People have been badmouthing Jake since before the season even started and I just seriously hope this doesn't blow up in his face as it's no secret I like The Broncos!!

Yeah, It's cool the the Pats are rolling!! I was at the Bears game and it was the best game I've ever been to as far as intensity goes!!! I hope they make it to the Bowl but The Ravens and Colts will be formidable road blocks!!

Bryant: I'm sorry your Steelers are in the position they're in..But hey they are the defending Super Bowl Champs right up until the playoffs start....And I'm glad this year is their down year and not last because it was great to see Bettis get his ring!!

Thanks for the kudos. My Steelers are playing like shit, but hey... I support them no matter the record. I am far from one of those screaming for Roethlisberger's head, but I say Batch is the man. It has little to do with Roethlisberger's latest performance, as I think Batch would only have performed marginally better, but it is about chemistry and "want to."
There is no man on this planet who bleeds Black and Gold more than Charlie Batch. He has a HUGE upside despite being almost 32 years old as well. He is not the savior for The Steelers..... simply the Quarterback.

As far as your Patriots...... this year belongs to Indy. Sorry buddy..... that is just my guess. I think they simply have enough offensive muscle this year to overcome all others.

Look out New York !!! Talk about QB play. They had beter not let Jared Lorenzen play. The Manning legacy might come to a halt with Eli. I will bet $20 that Lorenzen will be a starter in the NFL in the next three years even if not in New York. This guy is good !!

Bryant

Wow!! I'm at the completely other end of the spectrum...The Ravens finally have a leader on offense and finally have an offense to compliment that sick "D" I see The Ravens as the team to beat in the AFC...If (Or should I say WHEN) The Ravens and Colts square off in the playoffs just think of the Steelers performance last year in the AFC Championship game only with a better defense on the field.... I'm hoping they'll beat the hell outta each other and The Pats will get who's left.... Here's to hoping:kickass:

I don't know Wheez...Things are looking bad!! I'm starting to think they might not even make a wildcard spot...Now they have to go to San Diego!! I'm hoping but it looks bleak.. They should've won last night!!!

Any word on Al Wilsons condition?? They'll need him badly on Sunday if there's even a chance of containing Tomlinson..

Thanks man. I don't think even Browns and Bengals fans can honestly say they "HATE" Bettis. He was not only the best power back ever statistically, but really added a lot of personality to the Steelers and the NFL. I am also saddened by the loss of his father, but he died a very proud man seeing his Son finally get a SB ring. He had never missed a regular or post-season Bettis game.

Bryant

I feel for him on the loss of his dad too!! It's crazy unusually you wouldn't even really know of the guy...But last season his mom & dad were all over the tube doing interviews looking like they were bursting with pride..I remember those moments.

As for other teams fans hating him.....I don't know how ANYONE could hate or even dislike a class act like that!!! I'm a diehard Pats fan and would root against him as loud as I could when The Steelers came to Foxboro..But I could never say I hated someone who contributed so much blood and sweat as well as class to the league....I'll bet he's never thrown the finger to the fans whether in Pittsburgh or elsewhere....I know your Steelers sorely miss his locker room leadership right now..

I threw in the towel on the season when Shanahan benched Jake. I'd like them to get a playoff spot just to maximize the kid's experience but I don't really expect anything more out of this season.

Wilson practiced yesterday and seems to be fine. The tingling and numbness is gone so he ought to be able to go.

Looks like your Pats are making they're yearly run. Good luck!

If the Broncos make the playoffs things could get interesting!!! Again I don't think benching Jake was a smart move either...But when their "D" decides it's going to step up they're a very good unit!!! Beating The Chargers this week will be a huge step foward and losing...Well you know..

I've got concerns about The Pats...At first I thought The Pats were going through rough spots because of key injuries (Harrison, Seau, etc...) but I'm starting to think that they're looking past teams now (Something that Belichick NEVER would've let happen in the past) I thought it when they lost to The Jets in Foxboro and last week they didn't look like a team that thought The Lions could beat them.....They better get that in check or disaster looms BIG!!!

I think we can Beat Indy!! I don't view The Colts as big a problem as The Chargers and Ravens will be for us in the playoffs...Those two teams are playing sick defense!! Whereas I see The Colts doing their usual ritual of great regular season followed up by a post season choke!! It just wouldn't be The Colts if it happens any other way!

I'm happy to hear about Al Wilson!! He's a great MLB!!

I think he is missed on the field as well as in the locker room. I really love Parker, but he is not the grind it out type of back Cowher can use to hold the lead in the second half like Bettis was. Bettis and Ward are two players that can never be replaced. Their contributions to The Steelers have gone/go well beyond numbers put up on the field. Happy to see he gets respect outside of Steeler Nation.

Though I disagree with his decision...... he is preparing for the future. Sometimes it is a necessity. Was it in this case ? Probably not.... but I respect him as a coach. It will be next year before anyone can tell if it is the right decision. He may have seen absolutely incredible things from Jay in practice.

Being a Steeler fan, I believe in defense and Indy has very little in run defense........ But.... I honestly think Indy will give NE a thumping this year if they see each other in the play-offs. I honestly think the Championship games will be SD/Indy and Dallas/NO. Baltimore (and it is NOT negative bias) is going to fall on it's face.
The main reason I think Indy will be so good is because they haven't "peaked" offensively. They are still a jugernaut and they seemed to have peaked too early in years past. This year may be their year.

Exactly. The D has been getting tired from being on the field a lot because the O can't stay on the field. It's been really frustrating to watch sometimes.

Wow! I hope you're wrong about that. :) There does come a time with every coach where the message just doesn't ring as true as it ought to. I'm thinkin' Shanahan might have reached that point in Denver.

I'm thinkin' anyone with a decent run game can beat Indy. Their D just cannot keep people off the field. The Broncs' half good run game put up almost 200 yards on them in one half. Run the ball, eat the clock, keep Manning and Harrison off the field, tire out their D.

I'm thinkin' the Chargers are the most balanced of any of the teams. We'll see if Marty can somehow stay out of their way in the playoffs and let them win.

I'm happy to hear about Al Wilson!! He's a great MLB!!

Thanks! I like Al a lot and if he never played another down that wouldn't change. I'm just happy at this point that he's healthy and walking around.

You may very well be right but I'll go with the old standby that defense wins championships. Until Indy shows that it can do it in the playoffs I won't believe it. I'm waiting for Manning's postseason meltdown after they lose to see who he throws under the bus this year. So far he's used the liquored up kicker and his offensive line.

Being a Steeler fan, I also believe defense wins championships, but at the same time, if you have a great offense and average defense you can do it. The Indy run defense is absolutely terrible, but their pass defense is actually not bad. With two really good safeties and two really good pass rushing DE's, if Peyton gets back in "the zone" and scores quickly putting opposing offenses into "pass mode" they can be effective.

Bryant

I absolutely do not concur!!!

A team with a great defense and average offense can do it (As proven by The 2000 Ravens and their below average offense) But I don't think you're going to see the opposite proven...At least not this year..

You just watched a mediocre offense at best in Jacksonville rack up 375 rushing yards on them!! And it only gets worse with a Monday night game against Cincinnati (Gee do you think Rudi Johnson might just see some carries??:) ) They not only probably just gave up homefield throughout the playoffs...But they also just about guaranteed themselves no Super Bowl this year...If they couldn't stop "Fragile" Fred Taylor or Maurice Jones "Who"
They're sure as hell not going to stop L.T. (The best player in football right now!!!) Jamal Lewis or even Corey Dillon... I can't say I'm surprised...This is The Colts were talking about and they're post season failures are the stuff legends aren't made of!! (Sorry Peyton!!)

If they're pass defense was worth talking about teams would have a harder time using the pass to open up the run on them!!!! How in the hell a Tony Dungy coached team can be so pathetic on defense is beyond me!!!
He needs a defense full of Bob Sander's and he only has one.. They should've never let go of guys like Mike Petersen, and David Thornton..Their LB's are pathetic and sad!! and their "Stud" DE's Booger Mcfarland & Freeney haven't been very helpful (There's more to playing DE than rushing the QB....Stopping the run is a huge part of that job!!)
Bye-Bye Colts!! They can watch from home with N.E.!! (Anyone watch that game?!?! Talk about patheticl!!)

Hey Wheez...

I thought The Broncos had a chance when they pulled within 8.. But with San Diego knowing that the Colts had lost and that homefield is a reality they just looked crazy focused!!

You know I like the team and I respect Shanahan...But I'm starting to wonder if maybe they should fire him for this move... I mean think about it..They really weren't that bad off with Jake under center!! In a span of two games ( Both losses) they're playoffs hopes went from great to horrible!! And I think Jake would've won the Seattle game personally!

I guess they can watch it at home with Brady and the Pats..Did you see that game?!? Horrible!! I mean yes, Miami ALWAYS play The Pats tough and get up for the game...But if they couldn't score against them and win a game of that type of importance (It would've won them the AFC East) I shudder to think of what's going to happen if they have to go on the road to Baltimore and play that sick "D" in the playoffs...I'm a little bummed out and dejected today...The Pats football future doesn't look as rosy to me as it did on Saturday!!

Hey Wheez, Merry Christmas & congrats bro!!! Your Broncos looked decent beating the Cincinnati Felons on Christmas Eve!! And barring any type of meltdown they should make the playoffs (I know making assumptions this late in the season is crazy but they should be able to beat the 49ers in Mile High next week!!)

And any anti Pats sentiment should be temporarily put on hold since we went into Jacksonville and beat the team that dismantled The Colts!! Speaking of which that was a great game in Houston Sunday:lol: I guess Peyton and crew aren't waiting for the postseason to meltdown this year:erk:

Merry Christmas all!!! And get ready to see The Pats in the AFC Championship Game!!! This is bigger than all of us...It's destiny and has to happen!!:)
